Lead and build an internal government relations function that coordinates with ~300 agencies, directs outside lobbyists, crafts multi-state legislative and regulatory strategy, and represents the organization with legislators and regulators.
Overview
Ready to work somewhere that doesn't treat "Government Relations" like it's a dirty word?
Corporate Tools is looking for a Government Relations Director, liaison, coordinator, strategist... whatever title best describes someone who can help us work with government agencies as efficiently as possible. If having "Director" on your business card helps you get into rooms where titles matter, great. Use it. Otherwise, take your pick.
What matters to us is your ability to build relationships, create strategy, and get shit done.
We do a LOT of work with a LOT of different government agencies, and we already have lobbyists and relationships in place. We need someone who can help us make those interactions run smoothly and tie it all together. We're looking for someone who can build the machine.

Why Work Here
You like people. You like solving problems. You'd rather make things work than make things worse. Some might call it greasing the wheels... we might call it making sure the wheels are still on the bus.
We help over 5 million businesses in the US start and stay in business. A lot of what we do depends on making complicated systems a little less painful, and a lot more workable. If that sounds satisfying, you'll probably like it here.
We're looking for curious, honest people who treat problem-solving like a sport and are always looking for a better way to do things. If you want to learn more about how we operate before you tell us about yourself, check out our Company Principles or Why You Should Work Here .

Benefits
- 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Annual PTO that starts at 22 days and increases with tenure
- Flexible scheduling options and paid parental leave available
- 401(k) with up to 6% company matching and no vesting period
- Quarterly work-from-home allowance to support your home office
- For in-office employees, full snack bar and friendly coworkers
Responsibilities
- Talk to hundreds of government agencies for us across the country
- Direct and coordinate the work of our lobbying teams
- Develop strategies for working with governments, not against them
- Represent our interests with legislators, regulators, and other movers and shakers
Requirements
- You build teams. You've hired, led, and developed an internal government relations function. Not just managed outside lobbying firms.
- You build relationships. You can advance policy goals while maintaining strong relationships with legislators, regulators, and legislative staff.
- You understand how policy gets made. You've seen the real mechanics: committees, amendments, rulemaking, coalitions, and legislative timing. Experience with model law ecosystems like the Uniform Law Commission is a plus.
- You think strategically about policy. You develop long-term strategy, anticipate legislative developments, and execute multi-step advocacy plans.
- You bring credibility with policymakers. You represent organizations well in meetings with legislators, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- You operate across multiple states. You've led or coordinated multi-state legislative or regulatory efforts and understand that every jurisdiction has its own rules, pace, and personality.
