E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We are seeking a Hardware Test Engineer with strong experience in Java-based hardware test automation, SPI/I2C protocol programming, and custom board testing. 

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and maintain Java-based hardware test applications. 
  • Write tools interfacing with devices over SPI and I2C. 
  • Perform hardware validation, functional testing, and debugging.
  • Execute board bring-up on custom PCB designs. 
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to design test protocols. 
  • Use lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and waveform analyzers.
  • Create documentation, test procedures, and reports. 

What you bring to this role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Strong Java programming for test automation. 
  • SPI and I2C protocol programming experience. 
  • Understanding of C/C++ firmware interactions. 
  • Hands-on custom board testing experience. 
  • Ability to debug hardware signals and communication issues. 
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers such as ARM, STM32, PIC, or ESP32. 
  • USB/UART/CAN communication experience.
  • Board rework and soldering skills. 
  • Firmware experience for test mode support. 
  • JavaFX or Swing UI experience. 

Bonus points for the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of ATE and Advantest 93k 
  • Working knowledge on DFT techniques such as SCAN/MBIST and JTAG

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office.  The target base pay for this position is $100,000 - $200,000 annually.  The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 
 
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
