About Nirvana
The $1 trillion commercial insurance industry is broken, still running on paperwork and fax machines. Rates are disconnected from actual risk, quotes take weeks, and claims drag on for months. Nirvana is changing that - using data and AI to reimagine insurance from the ground up.

We’ve built cutting-edge predictive models using 50B+ miles of proprietary IoT data, and AI-powered underwriting and claims to be >4x faster. We’ve proven the model with $300M+ run-rate, industry-leading loss ratios and are backed by marquee VCs like Lightspeed, General Catalyst and Valor.

We're now expanding beyond an AI-native insurer into a broader platform - multiple businesses transforming the entire insurance value chain. This role exists because we need someone to build the narrative for what we're becoming, not just what we've been.

The role
As Head of Communications, you’ll partner with the CEO to define how the market sees us while building our external and internal communications strategy as the first dedicated hire.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own our communications and PR strategy to elevate our market presence with investors, candidates, customers and partners

  • Craft compelling narratives that position us as the category-defining innovator in AI and Insurance

  • Shape investor-facing messaging and materials alongside the CEO

  • Advance executive visibility through thought leadership and public presence

  • Cultivate strong relationships with press and influencers

  • Manage internal communications in partnership with key stakeholders

Who we're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in communications, PR, corporate communications, or a related field

  • In-house experience building and scaling the comms function in high-growth companies without an existing playbook

  • Experience with executive communications and building leadership presence

  • Strong relationships with tech, business, fintech and/or insurtech press

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic and analytical thinker who can distill complex technical and product concepts into compelling stories for different audiences

  • Thrive in fast-moving, high-growth environments

  • Bias-to-action: you move fast and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty

  • Experience managing multiple brands / product lines is a plus

Benefits

  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance (100% employer paid)

  • 401k with up to 4% company match

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Wellness reimbursement

We set our salary ranges using compensation data from companies similar to our stage and size. For this role, the estimated total cash for this position is $180,000- $275,000. The actual total cash salary will vary depending on multiple factors unique to each candidate, including location, job-related knowledge, transferable skills, work experience and our assessment of your level during the interview process. Nirvana offers equity for all full-time employees, which is not included in the range listed above and will have an impact on your overall compensation.

If you’re interested in this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. We'd like to consider you for this position and roles that may be a fit in the future.

Nirvana is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetics or any other basis forbidden under federal, state, or local law.
