About ZoomLogi

ZoomLogi is an AI-native operating system for healthcare logistics. We help pharma, biotech, distributors, diagnostics, medical device companies, and health systems orchestrate complex, sensitive shipments with real-time visibility, risk detection, and AI-driven interventions and support.

We’re backed by top-tier investors (including General Catalyst) with early commercial traction across healthcare and life sciences, from Fortune 100 to SMBs. Our founding team is ex-Uber Freight / Gusto with deep experience in logistics, healthcare, and scaled operations.

Role overview

We’re hiring a Founding Head of Engineering to own ZoomLogi’s technical foundation and grow the engineering team. This is a deeply hands-on role (player-coach): you’ll lead by building, set a high technical bar, and partner directly with the CEO on product and technical strategy. As we scale, you’ll transition into leading a small, high-performing engineering org while staying close to the code and customers.

What you’ll do
  • Own the architecture and implementation of our core platform: AI-powered control tower, real-time visibility, workflows, and integrations.

  • Build and evolve real-time visibility, alerting, performance scorecards, and AI-driven voice/email workflows for carriers, sites, and customers.

  • Build and operationalize AI-driven voice/email workflows and automation with strong guardrails, auditing, and measurable outcomes.

  • Design and operate low-latency streaming infrastructure and data pipelines that integrate carriers, forwarders, IoT providers, ERPs, and other systems at scale.

  • Drive reliability: observability, incident response, performance tuning, and scalable patterns as volume grows.

  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, pharma/healthcare expectations) while improving reliability, performance, and scalability.

  • Act as a player-coach: stay hands-on while setting engineering standards, code quality practices, and lightweight processes.

  • Recruit, hire, and mentor top-tier engineers; build a culture of ownership, curiosity, and user-centric problem solving.

  • Partner closely with the CEO and CTO on roadmap, metrics, product tradeoffs, and clear communication of progress and risks.

  • Evaluate and operationalize cutting-edge technologies (LLMs, orchestration frameworks, streaming infra) where they create clear, defensible value and optimize tech spend.

Who thrives here

You will likely thrive if you:

  • Want to build something with real-world impact, sometimes lifesaving.

  • Move fast with a high bar. Curious, pragmatic, and overdeliver on details that improve the customer experience.

  • Communicate crisply and proactively about tradeoffs, timelines, and risk.

  • Build compounding systems: strong defaults, tooling, patterns, testing, and lightweight process.

If you have strong opinions about clean UI, magical workflows, and which time zone belongs on which screen, you’ll fit right in.

What we’re looking for (must-haves)
  • Based in San Francisco and excited about in-person collaboration.

  • 8+ years of full-time professional software engineering experience.

  • 2–5 years in a leadership role (EM, TL, TLM, Head of Eng, CTO, or equivalent).

  • Backend-leaning full-stack skillset.

  • Strong in Python and TypeScript/React.

  • Experience in a Series B or earlier startup environment (or 0→1 ownership at a larger company).

  • CS or STEM degree (or equivalent practical experience).

What we offer
  • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity (4-year vesting, 1-year cliff).

  • Best-in-class medical and dental benefits.

  • The opportunity to be a true founding leader, shaping the product, architecture, and engineering culture from day one.

  • Direct partnership with an experienced founding team (ex-Uber Freight / Gusto) and top-tier investors.

  • High-impact work in a mission-critical space, preventing losses and failures across global healthcare and life sciences supply chains.

  • SF HQ with a Chicago office, in-person collaboration, and a small, senior team moving fast.

Hiring process
  • Intro chat (role fit, motivation, what you have built)

  • Technical deep dive (systems you have owned, architecture tradeoffs)

  • Onsite practical exercise (short, realistic, close to the work)
