Kindred is a members-only home swapping platform that unlocks the ability to live a travel-rich lifestyle through the power of community. By exchanging primary residences with trusted peers, renters and owners alike can match with Kindred spirits and explore new destinations without breaking the bank.
Kindred is revolutionizing the “third option” of travel accommodation, compared to short-term rentals and hotels. Since launching in 2022, Kindred has grown to a global community of 300,000 members across 150+ cities and puts home swapping on the map as a radically more affordable, responsible, and connected way to travel.
To support that momentum, Kindred has raised over $150M in capital from some of the most credible investors in Silicon Valley, including Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, Bessemer Venture Partners, Caffeinated Capital, Elad Gil, and founders of companies like Opendoor, Figma, ClassPass, and more.
Kindred’s co-founders are proven leaders from the early team at Opendoor ($15B+ exit), who have each built and scaled products that today generate $1B+ annual revenue combined.
We’re looking for the world’s top builders, executors, and believers to help us make travel more meaningful.
You can learn more about us in Forbes and The New York Times.
At Kindred, we’re building a new model for how people live and travel by turning homes into a shared network. Our goal is simple to describe but difficult to execute: we want anyone who could be a traveler to become a Kindred member.
As Head of Growth, your role is to make that transition happen at scale.
You will own revenue on the marketing side, but more importantly, you will be responsible for building the systems, loops, and ideas that turn awareness into participation. This includes the full marketing growth engine end-to-end: paid acquisition, lifecycle marketing, and entirely new channels that don’t exist yet. This role also extends into partnerships, product and web collaboration.
This also includes:
Scaling paid channels efficiently without eroding brand or unit economics
Partner with PMM/Creative to translate creative campaigns into growth outcomes, ensuring ideas don’t just land culturally but also drive hosts and bookings.
Find and unlock existing communities of travelers and home swappers, and build programs that turn their existing behavior into hosting on Kindred.
Designing lifecycle journeys that improve activation, retention, and referral
Treating the website as a product surface that continuously improves conversion.
Working closely with product to shape onboarding, supply growth, and user experience
Approach partnerships as a way to unlock both supply and demand, not just as brand or distribution deals.
Experimenting with how AI can meaningfully improve how we acquire, convert, and retain users
Establish growth operating rhythms: define KPIs, run weekly performance reviews, and communicate clear perspective on what’s happening, why, and what actions are being taken.
Translate data into insight and decisions, not just reporting.
Success in this role is not measured by revenue growth or channel performance in isolation. It’s measured by whether growth becomes predictable and compounding.
Over time, we should see that:
People who are a strong fit for Kindred discover it quickly and understand it intuitively
The path from first touch to becoming a member becomes shorter and more reliable
Our growth channels become more efficient as we learn and iterate
We develop multiple new durable growth loops that drive a meaningful share of new members
We’re looking for someone who operates more like a builder than a traditional head of marketing. You understand what it takes to go from zero to something that actually works, and you’re comfortable operating without a clear playbook.
You’re someone who moves quickly, even when the data is incomplete, and improves through iteration rather than waiting for perfect information. You’re able to think strategically about growth, but you’re also comfortable getting into the details, whether that’s launching campaigns, rewriting a landing page, or setting up experiments.
You have a strong intuition for how things spread, not just through paid channels, but through culture, communities, and networks. You’re curious about how people behave and how ideas travel.
It’s also important that you’re already using AI as a practical tool in your work, not just conceptually. We expect this role to push forward how we use AI in growth, both in terms of efficiency and creativity.
What might make this role challengingThis is not a role with a fully defined playbook or a large team in place from day one.
You’ll need to be comfortable figuring things out as you go, prioritizing where to focus, and making decisions with imperfect information. Some experiments will fail, and part of the job is being able to learn quickly and move on.
If you’re looking for a highly structured environment or to grow a program with paid channels alone, this probably won’t be the right fit. If you’re excited by the idea of building something from first principles, it likely will be.
