About Us

AfterShip, a Great Place to Work Certified company, is transforming the global eCommerce landscape. Founded in 2012, AfterShip is a post-purchase SaaS company on a mission to build the world’s leading automation platform for ecommerce merchants.

AfterShip unifies shipping & labels, order tracking, AI predictive delivery, and returns management into one system—giving merchants a single place to manage and automate everything that happens after checkout. By centralizing these workflows, AfterShip enables merchants to reduce customer support inquiries, deliver a more reliable and engaging customer experience, and unlock incremental revenue at every post-purchase touchpoint.

AfterShip integrates seamlessly with eCommerce platforms including Shopify and TikTok Shop, and connects with more than 1,200 carriers worldwide. Today, over 20,000 businesses—including Samsung, Gymshark, Mejuri, Dr. Squatch, and Alo Yoga—rely on AfterShip to turn every post-purchase moment into an opportunity to build trust, reduce costs, and drive repeat purchases.

Built for a global market from day one, AfterShip operates with an engineering-driven, internationally distributed team. The company employs more than 450 people across 8 offices, spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, and representing over 20 cities worldwide.

A note from the hiring team

We're looking for an exceptional HR Business Partner leader to help shape the next chapter of AfterShip.

Our business has evolved quickly. Today, North America is at the center of our growth, our leadership team is expanding, and the way we partner with the business needs to evolve alongside it.

We already have talented HRBPs across North America, China, and India. What we haven't had is a single global leader who can bring them together around a shared vision of what world-class business partnering looks like.

This role is an opportunity to build that vision.

You'll help define how our HRBP function operates, raise the bar for strategic partnership across regions, and ensure the People team is involved in the conversations that shape the future of the company—not simply responding after decisions have been made.

If you're energized by building, influencing senior leaders, and creating an organization where great people can do their best work, we'd love to meet you.

The opportunity

At AfterShip, we believe that building a great company starts with building a great organization.

As our Head of HRBP, you'll partner closely with the VP People and our executive team to help ensure our organization evolves alongside our business. You'll influence how teams are structured, where we invest in talent, how leaders grow, and how we prepare the company for what's next.

This isn't a role centered on running HR programs.

It's about helping leaders make better organizational decisions and building an HRBP function that becomes one of the company's most trusted strategic partners.

What success looks like

Success in this role isn't measured by the number of programs launched.

It's reflected in the way the business works with People.

Leaders seek your perspective early because they trust your judgment. HRBPs across North America, China, and India operate with a shared standard of excellence while adapting thoughtfully to local business needs. Organizational decisions are informed by stronger data, better talent insights, and clearer thinking.

Most importantly, the HRBP function becomes known as a team that helps the business move faster, make better decisions, and build stronger leaders.

What you'll own

You'll shape and lead our global HRBP function - defining the operating model, standards, and expectations for business partnering across regions.

You'll partner directly with executives and senior business leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, succession planning, and talent investment.

You'll lead and coach our North American HRBP team while providing functional leadership across HRBPs in China and India, helping build a consistent, high-performing global practice.

You'll guide leaders through organizational change, helping diagnose challenges, evaluate trade-offs, and build teams that can support the company's long-term growth.

You'll develop practical frameworks, career paths, and coaching that strengthen HRBP capability and create consistency across regions without losing local relevance.

Most importantly, you'll help ensure that People is viewed as a strategic business partner that enables growth—not simply a support function.

Who you are

You naturally connect people decisions to business outcomes.

You enjoy solving ambiguous problems and are comfortable building the path while walking it. Rather than waiting for perfect information, you gather context, form thoughtful opinions, and help leaders move forward with confidence.

You build trust through sound judgment, curiosity, and practical advice. Senior leaders value your perspective because you understand both the people side and the business side of every decision.

You're comfortable having candid conversations, challenging assumptions respectfully, and helping leaders navigate difficult organizational questions.

You're equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to solve today's challenges while building the systems that will scale tomorrow.

You also thrive in global environments and enjoy working across cultures. You're fluent in both Mandarin and English and can confidently partner with leaders across North America and China.

What we're looking for
  • 8+ years of progressive HR Business Partner experience, with the majority supporting US-based or US-market organizations.
  • Experience across both high-growth startups or scale-ups and larger, more structured organizations.
  • A strong track record partnering with VP and executive-level leaders on strategic organizational decisions.
  • Deep experience leading organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management initiatives.
  • Experience working across multiple regions and balancing global consistency with local business needs.
  • Professional fluency in both Mandarin and English.
This role may not be the right fit if...
  • You're looking for a regional HRBP position with clearly established playbooks and defined processes.
  • You prefer delivering established HR programs over helping shape organizational strategy.
  • You prefer waiting for direction rather than creating clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Your experience has been primarily focused on Talent Acquisition, People Operations, or Employee Relations without significant strategic HRBP partnership.
  • You aren't comfortable influencing senior leaders or respectfully challenging the status quo.

This is a unique opportunity to build something lasting. If you're excited by the chance to shape both an organization and the function that helps it thrive, we'd love to hear from you.
