The Head of Integrated Design is an executive role responsible for leading the end-to-end IT design and integration strategy for the Zayo × Crown merger. This role ensures the successful technical unification of systems, applications, infrastructure, and data while maintaining operational continuity, compliance, and speed to value.
Reporting to the VP Of Transformation and Operations and partnering with the Integration Management Office (IMO), this role will plan, design, and govern the entire technology integration from pre-close to steady-state. It will act as the architectural authority across all IT workstreams—Applications, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Data & Analytics, DevOps, and Cutover—ensuring every design decision aligns with enterprise architecture standards, business outcomes, and synergy objectives.
Our Head of Integrated Design will build and lead a cross-functional team of enterprise, solution, and domain architects and will work closely with Deloitte, Wipro, and internal Zayo / Crown leaders to deliver a cohesive, end-to-end merger architecture across business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and own the Integrated Design Strategy covering architecture, solutioning, and technology unification across all IT domains.

  • Serve as the IT Design Authority during pre-close, Day 1, and post-close phases, governing design decisions and trade-offs.

  • Align system design to business capabilities, target operating model, and synergy realization plans.

  • Establish and lead the Integrated Design Team, combining enterprise architecture, process architecture, and solution design disciplines.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, IT workstream leads, and business sponsors to define end-state architecture and interim blueprints.

  • Drive Architecture as Code and model-based design principles leveraging LeanIX, ServiceNow CSDM, and integration repositories.

  • Serve as a member of the IT Steering & Integration Office, representing design governance and architecture alignment.

Planning & Execution

  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Design Plan, capturing all dependencies, design milestones, and key deliverables across IT workstreams.

  • Lead Day 1 and End-State architecture definition, design reviews, and approval cycles.

  • Oversee creation of high-level solution designs (HLSDs), system interface maps, and integration blueprints.

  • Coordinate with program and business operations teams to ensure design deliverables feed directly into execution workstreams (build, test, cutover).

  • Ensure designs incorporate security, scalability, compliance, and business continuity requirements.

  • Establish and operate a Design Review Board (DRB) and architecture governance cadence.

  • Identify and rationalize duplicate systems and drive simplification and modernization opportunities.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Define design standards, patterns, and templates across the integration program.

  • Manage design-related risks, issues, and dependencies across infrastructure, applications, and data.

  • Ensure all design decisions adhere to cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance requirements.

  • Track design maturity across workstreams and manage audit-ready documentation of all integration architecture decisions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for IT Integration Design with business, IT, and partner teams.

  • Collaborate with CIO office, IMO, Deloitte, and workstream leads to align sequencing, cutover, and solution plans.

  • Communicate design progress, decisions, and trade-offs to executive stakeholders and integration steering committees.

  • Facilitate cross-functional design workshops to align network, data, application, and business process interlocks.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Champion automation, DevOps, and AI-assisted architecture methods to accelerate integration design.

  • Drive reuse of design artifacts and accelerators for future M&A activities.

  • Monitor emerging architecture trends (Zero Trust, cloud-native, observability, data fabric) to influence target state.

Qualifications / Skills
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years enterprise architecture, IT integration, and transformation leadership experience.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years leading multi-domain technical teams in complex M&A or large-scale transformations.

  • Proven experience designing and governing end-to-end IT integrations across applications, infrastructure, and data.

  • Strong command of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, CSDM, LeanIX Metamodel).

  • Deep understanding of system integration, API/middleware, cloud migration, and data interconnectivity.

  • Hands-on experience with architecture and design tools (LeanIX, ServiceNow CSDM, Ardoq, Visio/Lucidchart).

  • Familiarity with major SaaS and enterprise platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Oracle, Workday, Azure, AWS).

  • Excellent stakeholder communication, executive reporting, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferred.

Estimated base salary range: $225,000 - $240,000 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
