The Role

Slice is looking for an experienced and highly versatile legal leader to join its growing team as Head of Legal. This role will lead the company’s legal function and serve as a trusted, business-first advisor to senior leadership across a broad range of commercial, corporate, regulatory, and strategic matters. We are looking for a true generalist who thrives in ambiguity, exercises strong judgment in balancing risk and growth, and enables the business to move quickly and decisively. The Head of Legal will play a key role in strengthening our legal strategy, taking a pragmatic approach to risk, and supporting Slice’s continued growth and innovation. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, pragmatic legal counsel to executive leadership, with a focus on enabling business outcomes while thoughtfully managing risk
  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, licensing agreements, marketing partnerships, and complex vendor agreements
  • Build, manage, and scale the legal function, including overseeing outside counsel and optimizing legal resources
  • Develop and oversee a scalable legal strategy, policies, and processes that support rapid growth without unnecessary friction
  • Take a practical, solutions-oriented approach to identifying and managing legal and regulatory risks across the organization
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams including Product, Finance, Sales, People and Operations to enable business initiatives while maintaining appropriate compliance and risk controls
  • Partner with the People Team on Employment Legal issues and advise on sensitive matters as needed
  • Oversee intellectual property strategy and dispute management with a focus on efficient, outcome-driven resolution
  • Advise on corporate governance matters and support leadership on board-related topics as needed
  • Drive scalable frameworks that empower teams to make decisions confidently and quickly

The Winning Recipe

This role requires a builder, operator, and true generalist - someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who is comfortable taking calculated risks and making decisions with imperfect information.

  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant experience advising high-growth companiesJ.D. from a highly reputable law school and admitted to at least one state bar
  • Top-tier law firm experience strongly preferred, with in-house leadership experience highly valued
  • Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and operate effectively in fast-moving environments
  • Strong business judgment and ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance
  • Comfortable owning a wide range of legal areas (commercial, regulatory, corporate) without narrow specialization
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable operating in ambiguity with a bias toward action
  • Highly effective problem-solver who can collaborate across all levels of the organization

Salary Range: $250,000- 310,000 USD + Equity
