Upwind is a next-generation Cloud Security Platform that leverages runtime context to identify and prioritize critical risks, providing precise insights and efficient cloud security management. Unlike traditional tools, Upwind uses runtime data proactively for risk prioritization and posture insights, ensuring teams focus on what truly matters. With industry-leading efficiency and eBPF-powered sensors, Upwind delivers comprehensive capabilities, including agentless cloud posture discovery, real-time threat protection, and integrated API security. From misconfigurations to malware defense, Upwind ensures end-to-end, cost-effective cloud infrastructure protection. At Upwind, you’ll have the opportunity to think creatively, explore new ideas, and use your skills to make a meaningful impact on our growth.

We’re looking for a Head of Product Marketing who will help define how the world understands Upwind—our product, our point of view, and the value we deliver to cloud security teams. In this role, you will own the strategy and execution for our product marketing function. You bring deep technical curiosity and exceptional storytelling instincts, translating complex cloud security concepts into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with engineers and security leaders.

This role calls for someone who thinks outside the box, writes exceptionally well, and learns fast. You’ll be deeply obsessed with customers: their use cases, their pain, their workflows, their outcomes, and the stories that reveal the real impact of Upwind. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Product, Sales, and Marketing, across time zones, to define how our product shows up in the market. You’ll partner directly with executives to sharpen messaging and shape new narratives, while leading a small team of technical PMMs.

Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert on cloud security, our market, our buyer personas, and the technical nuances of the Upwind platform.
  • Lead the strategy and day-to-day execution of the product marketing function, shaping both the long-term direction and the work we ship every week.
  • Define use cases, value propositions, and audience-specific messaging that showcase how Upwind solves real cloud security challenges.
  • Drive product launches end-to-end, from messaging and assets to internal enablement.
  • Build and maintain the customer reference program; write compelling case studies and help Sales activate customer stories.
  • Deliver key messaging that enables our marketing team to execute compelling campaigns and events. Work closely with our demand generation team to drive pipeline.
  • Translate cloud security solutions into clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences, from engineers to executives.
  • Produce technical collateral such as blog posts, webpages, whitepapers, interactive demos using Storylane, reports, demo videos, presentations, and other visual or written materials.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform product positioning and marketing strategies.
  • Manage timely analyst relations responses for reports we are asked to participate in.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Marketing and our executive team teams to ensure alignment on messaging and product launches.
  • Operate as a player / coach leading and mentoring a small team of product marketing managers.
  • Operate with grit, collaboration, and ownership—shipping product content and launches quickly in sync with our rapid feature release cycle.
  • 7+ years of product marketing, solutions marketing, product management, or sales engineering experience at an enterprise SaaS company—ideally a security startup.
  • Exceptional technical writing and editing skills, with a portfolio showcasing diverse content formats and styles. You’re well-versed in messaging best practices and know how to cut through security jargon, simplify complexity, and make technical content feel human and useful.
  • A proven track record of marketing to deeply technical audiences. You’re fully at home working with (and writing for) security, cloud, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize ruthlessly, and collaborate cross-functionally while shipping quickly in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Prior experience working with CSPs is a plus.
  • A willingness to dive in, get scrappy, and get 1% better every day. No ego, just momentum.
  • Motivated by building and impact. You’re a builder at heart and want to help shape the future of cloud security at a startup committed to this mission.
