About the role

LangChain is at the forefront of the AI industry, and our ability to scale is directly tied to the caliber of technical talent we bring into the fold. We are looking for a Head of Technical Recruiting who is a world-class practitioner and a strategic leader. Our technical recruiting team is composed of industry veterans with 15+ years of experience; we need a leader who can earn the respect of this elite group while navigating a high-stakes, high-velocity environment.

In this role, you will be a player-coach in the truest sense—directly carrying a req load of high-priority technical roles while simultaneously architecting the strategy to scale our engineering, and product organizations for our next phase of growth.

Location/City:

San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Boston, MA

Responsibilities:
  • Lead an Elite Veteran Team: Manage a high-performing team of senior technical recruiters. You will drive excellence through shared standards, technical calibration, and removing systemic friction, allowing your team to do their best work.

  • Full-Cycle Execution: Maintain a "hands-on" approach by personally carrying and closing a load of technical reqs. You lead by example, demonstrating how to navigate a hyper-competitive talent market to land top-tier engineers and AI researchers.

  • Strategic Founder & Stakeholder Partnership: Act as an advisor to our technical founders and leaders. You will navigate brilliant stakeholders, help define role requirements in emerging AI spaces, and influence hiring approaches and decisions through deep market intelligence.

  • High-Velocity Diagnosis: Monitor the health of our technical hiring machine. You will proactively identify bottlenecks in the funnel and implement rapid pivots to maintain momentum in a competitive landscape.

  • AI & Technical Savvy: Stay at the cutting edge of the AI landscape. You understand the nuances of the talent market—from applied AI and infrastructure to product management and open source—and can speak credibly with the world’s most sought-after technical talent.

  • Operational Rigor: Partner with Talent Ops to ensure a seamless, data-driven hiring process. You will lead technical business reviews, providing clarity on pipeline health and ensuring the LangChain talent bar remains uncompromising as we scale.

Requirements:
  • 15+ years of technical recruiting experience, with at least 5+ years in leadership or management roles within elite, high-growth AI or infrastructure-focused startups.

  • Technical Depth: You have a genuine obsession with the AI space. You understand the difference between high-level architectural roles and applied AI positions and can vet talent accordingly.

  • Stakeholder Mastery: Proven experience partnering with founders who have an exceptionally high bar. You are a truth-teller who can push back, pivot strategies, and deliver results under pressure.

  • Master Closer: You have a track record of winning talent away from the world’s top labs and tech giants. You understand the nuances of equity, mission, and technical impact in a candidate's decision-making process.

  • Player-Coach Mentality: You get energy from both building a team and being "in the hunt." You are execution-oriented and thrive in high-velocity environments.

  • Data-First Leadership: You use metrics to diagnose problems and forecast needs, ensuring that "gut feel" is always backed by operational data.

Compensation & Benefits
  • We offer competitive compensation that includes base salary, meaningful equity, and benefits such as health and dental coverage, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan, and life insurance. Actual compensation will vary based on role, level, and location. For team members in the EU and UK, we provide locally competitive benefits aligned with regional norms and regulations.

  • Annual salary range: $180,000 - $215,000
