Position Summary
Performs histological preparations for Signatera Whole Exome Sequencing. The position is for first shift- 6.00 AM- 2.30 PM ; Wed- Sun schedule
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform histological preparations for the tissue whole exome sequencing laboratory with little to no errors
- Duties may include, but not limited to, preparation of tissues, stained slides, microdissection, and supporting workflow tasks
- Follows Good Laboratory Practice (GLP): maintain clean and organized workspace
- Recognizes and escalates equipment or LIS malfunctions; troubleshoots common errors
- Recognizes, documents, escalate protocol deviations to lab management
- Maintains equipment and instruments in good operating condition
- Communicates with team and other departments
- Provides feedback on workflow to lab management and offers suggestions/ideas for improvement
- Assist teammates in completing daily tasks
- Adheres to departmental procedures
- This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) to perform the job
- Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure
- Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire
- Ensures timely completion of other training assignments assigned in the EDMS
- Ensures timely completion of continuing education units
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
- Associate degree or higher required in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent
- HT(ASCP) required
- 2-5 years of experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience working with an LIS and Google Suite
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, computer, troubleshooting skills
- Word processing and data management skills.
Physical Demand and Work Environment
- Repetitive hand motions are required for FFPE preparation
- Standing or sitting for long periods of time may be necessary
- Duties may require working weekends
