EVPassport is seeking  a business minded, highly motivated Legal Counsel to join our team in the Santa Monica office. As in-house counsel, your core responsibilities will include working closely with the executive, sales and legal teams on complex contract negotiations with enterprise clients to perpetuate the growth and success of EVPassport. You will support the Company in legal research, corporate governance, contract management, and various other legal matters including labor law and compliance and regulatory affairs.  This position is in-office and will benefit from direct interface with the Company’s executive team. This position will be based full-time in our Santa Monica office.

Candidates should have a strong background in commercial contracts, prior experience working in fast-paced environments, and the willingness and ability to operate with a high level of autonomy.

You Will:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements
  • Advise on corporate governance matters, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations, corporate policies, and best practices
  • Develop  s innovative, business minded approaches to contract negotiation and deal structures.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules, and regulations that directly affect EVPassport’s business and industry
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Executive Management across the business
  • Additional projects as may be assigned by the Company. 

You Have:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school (California bar license preferred)
  • 3-5 years of either transactional or industry experience (or both!)
  • Strong experience handling commercial contracts (required), and a deep understanding of commercial and corporate law
  • Start-up experience or the ability and willingness to work in a high performance environment is required
  • Experience working hand-in-hand with Sales teams, helping to close deals in a timely, compliant and efficient manner
  • The ability to analyze, issue spot, and communicate complex legal issues and risks Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, taking initiative and making sound decisions independently

It’s a Plus:

  • Experience dealing with long term (~5 year) contracts would be beneficial, but is not required
  • Prior experience working for an EV / charging infrastructure company; IaaS company, or hardware company is a plus

Base Salary: $165,000 - $185,000 | Placement within this base salary range depends upon several factors, including prior relevant job experience and skill set.
