Position: Houseperson

Department: Housekeeping

Division: Rooms


Position Purpose: Maintain the cleanliness of all public areas and non-public areas assigned to the Housekeeping Department. Remove linen and trash from assigned areas as required.


Essential Functions:

Typical working conditions: Work in all areas of the hotel, working horizontally and vertically. Tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.


Example of duties (Includes but is not limited to the following):

· Check with immediate supervisor regarding any area needing specific attention.

· Proceed and check entire assigned area for any apparent problems that require immediate attention.

· Remove soiled linen and trash from all check-outs when needed.

· Maintain the service elevator areas and assigned service elevators, clean track as needed.

· Check all supplies and linen in the closet rooms and replace as prescribed during shift.

· Clean and mop all locker and service areas in assigned station. Organize shelves as needed at the start and end of shift.

· Guest room attendant supplies are to be inventoried and replaced as required during shift.

· Clean trash or ash/trash urns as needed and change sand as prescribed.

· Complete a walkthrough and prepare a list of items needing repaired. Report all repair orders to the shift supervisor.

· Answer and handle all service calls as quickly as possible.

· Check all rollaway and baby cribs in lockers for serviceability and report the supervisor any in need of attention.

· Make frequent check of assigned areas, making sure all areas are up to required standards. This is to be done the entire shift.

· Report to your supervisor any areas requiring special attention that con not be handled personally.

· Spot clean mirrors and fixtures several times throughout the shift.

· Vacuum hallways and keep it free of dust at all times, paying close attention to detail (edges, high dust, fixtures etc.).

· Sweep and mop the service areas, strip and wax service area flooring as scheduled.

· Assist Guest room Attendants with replenishing supplies, removing soiled linen and trash daily.

· Pan and broom and mop all stairwells as needed and keep clean at all times.

· Make a final inspection of entire area (1) one hour prior to the end of shift to ensure all areas are up to the designated standards.

· Maintain open lines of communication with staff and guest promoting a positive, professional and helpful attitude at all times.

· Perform any/all deep cleaning requirements as scheduled.

· Clean and maintain all public area restrooms as needed and maintain frequently throughout the shift.

· Perform other related duties as requested


Position Requirements:

Education & Experience: Minimum high school education or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Pleasant personality, team-oriented and enjoy working with and serving people, good cleaning skills.


Reporting Relationship

This positions reports to the Director of Housekeeping and Housekeeping management/supervisors


Exemption Status

Non - Exempt
