We're looking for an exceptional Senior Manager of Learning & Development to build the foundations of learning and employee development at Discord. This role will help our employees achieve their full potential, and will develop employees, managers, and leaders. This person will assess the company's learning needs, prioritize the biggest opportunities, and create and deliver learning and development programs to help us scaleWhat you'll be doing
  • Create Discord's learning & development strategy to help us make better decisions about our talent
  • Develop metrics to measure before and after behavioral changes and effectiveness across these groups
  • Conduct needs analyses and build foundational learning systems to develop our employees, managers, and leaders, with the most immediate efforts on manager enablement and learning in a dispersed environment
  • Develop the L&D roadmap to focus on building excellent new hire onboarding, foundational learning paths for all Discord employees, with a near term emphasis on manager enablement. Empowering employees to feel ownership over their careers, and to feel connected to resources to help them grow
  • Lead Discord's training content and related assets (including e-learning, job aids, checklists, in-app digital assets, video) and delivery modalities
  • Identify latest technology solutions to enhance the learning experience and reduce the resources/cost/lead time required to develop training
  • Objectively assess the effectiveness of learning systems
What you should have
  • 7+ years of progressive impact in L&D, organizational development, manager training, employee education, onboarding, coaching, leadership development, performance management, talent management, or similar areas
  • Expertise building and scaling learning programs with a diverse workforce
  • Experience deciding how best to resource learning programs, drawing from a mix of vendors, consultants, internal experts, learning management systems, and custom company trainings
  • Experience and learning theory in a practical manner, optimized for maximized learning effectiveness
  • Presentation and trust-building skills to influence change and engage audiences of all levels
  • Experience creating manager/leadership training, diversity & inclusion training, and development experience
  • Ability to strategically think and tactically build in a complex environment
  • A flexible mindset; you can and will pivot, you are excited to try new ways of doing things, and you look forward to sharing ideas to help us refine our recipe for success
  • You can break down complex problems into manageable solutions
  • A Builder mentality: you are excited about playing a role in building and growing an outstanding company, project management skills with ability to independently identify and prioritize as needed to meet the shifting demands and take initiatives successfully from concept to implementation
  • Deep expertise in adult learning theories
  • Excellent instructional design skills
