Job Description

HRIS MANAGER
 

The HRIS Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, administration, and continuous optimization of the Dayforce HRIS platform. This role serves as the organization’s primary subject matter expert and system owner, ensuring data integrity, compliance, reporting accuracy, and an exceptional user experience across the employee lifecycle.

In addition, the HRIS Manager serves as backup Payroll Administrator, supporting accurate and compliant payroll processing during peak cycles and absences. The ideal candidate brings deep Dayforce expertise, strong payroll and compliance knowledge, and a system-oriented mindset to drive scalable, efficient HR operations.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

HRIS Strategy & System Management (Dayforce)

•Own the overall HRIS strategy and roadmap, ensuring Dayforce capabilities align with business, operational, and compliance needs.

•Serve as the primary administrator and technical owner of Dayforce, including system configuration, workflows, security roles, job structures, and data governance.

•Oversee ongoing system maintenance, enhancements, and configuration changes to support organizational growth (e.g., new locations, restructuring, role creation).

•Act as the technical liaison between HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, and system vendors to gather requirements, resolve issues, and deliver effective solutions.

•Partner with HRIS vendors to manage upgrades, release testing, integrations, and issue resolution.

 

Payroll Oversight & Backup Administration

•Serve as backup Payroll Administrator, ensuring accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll when required.

•Oversee payroll system controls, reconciliations, and data flows between payroll, timekeeping, benefits, and HRIS modules.

•Maintain payroll records including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposits.

•Support payroll audits, internal reviews, and responses to employee or external inquiries.

 

Data Integrity, Compliance & Controls

•Establish and maintain data governance standards to ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity across HR and payroll systems.

•Conduct regular HRIS and payroll audits to identify risks, errors, and improvement opportunities.

•Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and employment reporting requirements, including W 2 and ACA reporting.

•Monitor changes in payroll, tax, and employment laws and translate requirements into system or process updates.

•Ensure HRIS operations comply with data privacy, security, and internal control standards.

 

Reporting, Analytics & Decision Support

•Oversee the development and delivery of standard and custom HR and payroll reports, dashboards, and metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, compliance, payroll accuracy).

•Provide actionable insights to HR leadership, Finance, and business partners through reliable data and analytics.

•Serve as a key resource for advanced HRIS reporting and analytical requests.

 

Projects, Testing & Implementations

•Lead HRIS related projects, including system upgrades, new module implementations, integrations, and automation initiatives.

•Oversee end to end testing activities (unit, integration, UAT), ensuring business readiness and system stability.

•Manage project timelines, cross functional dependencies, and post go live stabilization and handoff.

•Configure, test, and validate new pay groups, time off entitlement/accrual rules configurations in Dayforce. 

 

Process Improvement, Documentation & Enablement

•Drive continuous improvement of HRIS and payroll processes, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and user adoption.

•Develop, maintain, and enforce HRIS and payroll policies, SOPs, runbooks, and user guides aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.

•Train and support HR, Payroll, managers, and new hires on system functionality, reporting, and compliance expectations.

•Ensure strong end user support and knowledge transfer to operational teams.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. 

•5+ years of progressive HRIS experience, including Dayforce administration. 

• Strong working knowledge of payroll operations, compliance, and HR data management. 

•Demonstrated experience leading system enhancements, upgrades, or HR technology projects. 

•Advanced Excel and HRIS reporting skills. 

•Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management capabilities.

•Prior experience serving as a payroll backup or payroll system owner. 

•Experience supporting multi state or complex payroll environments. 

•HRIS or payroll certifications (e.g., Dayforce certification, CPP, PHR, SHRM CP).

•Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

•Strong analytical and technical aptitude. 

•Collaborative mindset with a focus on customer service.

 

Salary range $100,000-$115,000, based on experience
