Brief Description: 

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of and adherence to Company HSE requirements and operational expectations in partnership with other HSE professionals and Operations. Responsibilities include managing HSE-related activities for the designated operational area(s) and ensuring work activities are conducted in accordance with Company policies, standards and processes, and relevant regulatory requirements.

 

Detailed Description: 

  • Ensure effective management and use of policies, standards, and best practices within the HSE organization. 

  • Promote a risk-based approach (e.g., field-based hazard identification and risk assessments) to HSE management utilizing Company policies, standards, and processes for all operational activities. 

  • Plan, participate, and complete HSE audits/reviews of drilling operations in assigned areas to ensure implementation and compliance with HSE requirements. To include conducting safety and environmental assessments and inspections of records, equipment, and facilities to promote compliance with safety regulations and record keeping requirements as established by the Company and/or local, state, or federal laws. 

  • Mentor and coach teams in job-planning activities, including Permission to Work (PTW), Job Risk Assessment (JRA), hazard recognition, and all company related safety initiatives.  

  • Provide HSE policy guidance and interpretation, and drive improvement recommendations to HSE policies, practices, and processes while leading initiatives to proactively promote the Company’s commitment to employee engagement in HSE activities. Support the development, implementation, and communication of Company safety and environmental policies and procedures in all areas of field operations. 

  • Provide guidance in incident investigations to assist in identifying the cause and corrective measures necessary to prevent reoccurrence and recommend incident reduction goals and strategies from an analysis of available reports and statistics. 

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE related training, including internal and external training, as needed for the designated area of responsibility and support facilitation of various trainings. 

  • Ensure compliance with reporting system for collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking, and reporting HSE performance data (e.g. incident report findings, audit actions, and related HSE metrics). 

  • Conduct case management, including interviews, and perform frequent follow-ups to ensure ongoing support and compliance with third party medical recommendations. 

  • Effectively partner with internal claims department on light duty offers, approved facilities, and submit required documentation in a timely manner. 

  • Ensure compliance with daily drills at the jobsite by following up through our data management system. 

  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by supervisor. 

  • Follow up on success of New to Industry employees during routine rig visits with an understanding of the process (e.g., First Hitch paperwork, timeframe for green hard hat, OJT). 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge in emergency response and ability to assist teammates as required.  

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, and other additional tasks as assigned. 

  • Understand and communicate regulations, risk management, and risk assessment skills, in compliance with government laws, regulations, and reporting procedures (such as OSHA, DOT, API, etc.)  

  • Competence in HSE auditing, incident investigation, and documentation practices 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to speak in front of large groups, and participating in internal and external meetings, as requested.  

  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, while fostering positive employee engagement. 

  • Working at heights, including but not limited to climbing a straight ladder or stairs approximately 142 feet from the rig floor to perform inspections, investigations, and/or training with required PPE while maintaining 100% tied off. 

  • Spatial orientation and awareness are required to be able to safely move around the work environment with many moving objects. 

  • Work in a heavy industrial environment which includes working around constantly moving overhead machinery and being near loud equipment with proper PPE. 

  • Requires work in remote locations far from emergency services. 

  • Adherence to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including performing on site employee collections and Fit for Duty evaluations. 

  • Train field employees in annual compliance requirements (forklift, manlift, CPR, first aid and others as required). 

  • Attend and successfully complete all additional training courses, certification courses and related work, as assigned. 

  • Manage and coach others on loose lifting gear, hot work, and confined space entry protocols. 

  • Ability to identify electrical and pressure hazards and ensure compliance related to the Permission to Work (PTW) process. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

All Level Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.  

  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy. 

 

HSE Advisor I

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.  

  • One (1) year experience in an HSE role (safety, risk management, environmental practices) or two (2) years experience in a rig-based role. 

  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree. 

  • Three (3) years experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and HSE requirements.

     

HSE Advisor II

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.  

  • Two (2) years experience in an HSE role (safety, risk management, environmental practices) AND at least one (1) year an HSE role in the drilling industry 

  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Three (3) years experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong understanding of general industry regulations and HSE requirements 

     

HSE Advisor SR

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. 

  • Four (4) years experience in an HSE role with at least one (1) of those years being in the drilling industry.   

  • Understanding of drilling processes, equipment, and systems  

  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Four (4) years experience in land-based drilling operations and a strong understanding of related regulatory  frameworks and HSE requirements 

 

Additional Details: 

This position requires the person to work in both office locations and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold/heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The HSE Advisor I will be regularly exposed to the typical conditions of the local area where the drilling operations and rigs are located. This position involves occasional manual labor functions and duties. Advisors are responsible for managing the escort of injured employees to medical appointments, which may include transportation of the employee. 

 

The HSE Advisor must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. They must be able to work closely with others and under time-sensitive deadlines including potential emergency response situations. They must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days, and occasionally nights, weekends, and holidays.
