The Glass Jar, Inc. is searching for a dedicated and conscientious professional to join our management team as the Human Resources Manager.

The Human Resources Manager Position 

The Human Resources Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting and strengthening The Glass Jar’s people, culture, and operational excellence. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the senior management team, this position oversees the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Department and serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers across the organization.

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for attracting, hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining exceptional team members who consistently deliver outstanding customer service and operational performance. This includes leading recruitment efforts, facilitating onboarding & offboarding, transfers and re-hires, coordinating training, supporting employee development, and fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture.

This role requires a hands-on leader who is highly visible throughout the organization and committed to maintaining The Glass Jar’s values, standards, and culture across all locations.


Key Responsibilities Include:


Talent Acquisition & Employee Development

-Lead all recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation processes.

-Assist in developing training materials and in training implementation.

-Partner with management to support employee growth through coaching, performance discussions, and career development opportunities.

-Promote employee engagement, retention, and professional development initiatives.


Employee Relations & Communication

-Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policies, and procedures.

-Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication.

-Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable work environment aligned with company values.

-Support conflict resolution, addressing employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism.


Human Resources Operations & Compliance

-Collaborate with management to develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.

-Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

-Oversee compensation, benefits administration, leave management, and employee records.

-Maintain accurate HR systems, documentation, and reporting processes.


Organizational Leadership

-Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company operations, customer service standards, and business philosophy.

-Partner with management to support organizational growth and workforce planning.

-Lead HR projects and initiatives that enhance employee experience and operational effectiveness.

-Model professionalism, awareness, and leadership in all interactions.


Requirements

Work Environment & Expectations

This is a hands-on position that requires flexibility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the business. The Human Resources Manager must maintain a regular presence at all company locations to support employees, ensure compliance, and reinforce company culture and standards.

Responsibilities include:

-Working in the Midtown Santa Cruz office and other company locations as needed.

-Traveling regularly between locations throughout Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County.

-Adapting to scheduling needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

-Ability to work 40+ hours per week.

-Supporting operations as needed.


Qualifications

-2 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in hospitality, restaurant, retail, or multi-location operations.

-Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws and HR best practices.

-Exceptional organizational skills with acute attention to detail and accuracy.

-Proven ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and effectively manage projects.

-Strong leadership, coaching, interpersonal, and communication skills.

-Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

-Drive for building strong teams and contributing to a growing farm-to-table restaurant business.
