Inclusive Design Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced and passionate operations manager to join Yahoo’s Inclusive Design Team. In this role, you will be pivotal in fostering a culture of accessibility and usability across all our products and platforms. Your responsibilities will center on inclusive design-focused education, communications, vendor management, and the creation of new accessibility resources which ensure our products are compatible with the broad range of assistive technology used by individuals with disabilities.

In a given day you might find yourself:

  • Training individuals and product groups on the use of assistive technology, including demonstrating how individuals with disabilities use our products.

  • Gathering and organizing resources to make accessibility knowledge available company-wide.

  • Participating in inclusive design reviews and offering best practices.

  • Managing multiple projects, initiatives, and communications across the Inclusive Design team and our crossfunctional partners.

High-level responsibilities:

  • Inclusive Design Studio: Manage the Inclusive Design Studio in our Mountain View office, maintaining open studio hours for product teams seeking to uplevel their accessibility knowledge and get hands-on experience with assistive technology. Develop and deliver educational programs in-collaboration with our inclusive design team.

  • Communications: Create and disseminate clear, concise, and engaging communications about accessibility updates, best practices, and policy changes. Foster a culture of accessibility awareness and advocacy.

  • Guidance, Policies, and Resources:  Create and maintain guidance, policies, and resources supporting inclusive design. Ensure these materials are up-to-date, accessible, and relevant to all teams.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors for accessibility testing, audits, and support. Ensure vendors adhere to our accessibility standards and deliver high-quality services.

Requirements:

  •  5+ years of professional experience driving projects across UX, design, and usability teams.

  • Able to be on-site in our Mountain View, CA office 3 days a week.

  • Knowledge of assistive technology and experience using these products with individuals with disabilities.

  • Familiarity with WCAG and other accessibility guidelines and standards.

  • Demonstrated bias toward action and agility carrying multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build mutually-beneficial relationships in a complex organizational landscape. 

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and skilled at creating clarity for others.

  • Experience in vendor management and resource creation.

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
