Who We Are

Imprint helps the world's best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. But the card is just the beginning. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to create delightful and personalized experiences for members as well as efficient and profitable relationships for our brand partners. Our robust technology and world-class operations allow us and our brand partners to offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.
In the U.S., co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in annual spend, and most still run on decades-old legacy bank systems. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, embeddable, and built for how people actually pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, we're building a world-class team to redefine how people pay and how brands grow. If you want to move fast, solve hard problems, and own real outcomes, we want to meet you.

The Team

The Data Infrastructure Team at Imprint builds the foundational data systems that power our products, decision-making, risk capabilities, and long-term company strategy. We are responsible for designing reliable, scalable, and secure data platforms that make high-quality data accessible across the organization and enable teams to move quickly with confidence.

Our work sits at the intersection of distributed systems, data engineering, privacy, security, and product enablement. We build the infrastructure that allows Imprint to responsibly ingest, validate, store, and share data across internal teams and external partners. As Imprint grows, the Data Infra team will play a critical role in enabling ambitious company-wide initiatives, including a partner data sharing platform and an identity graph that supports our long-term vision for smarter, more personalized, and more trusted financial products.

This is infrastructure work at a fintech company growing fast — the problems we're solving are unique to our business model, and the person in this role will have a direct hand in shaping what gets built, when, and why.

What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and operate scalable data infrastructure that supports high-volume ingestion, transformation, quality validation, storage, and access patterns across the company.

  • Drive the architecture and implementation of a partner data sharing platform, enabling secure, reliable, and governed data exchange with external partners.

  • Build core components of Imprint's identity graph, helping unify customer, account, transaction, partner, and behavioral signals to support long-term product and business strategy.

  • Develop systems that improve data quality, observability, reliability, and governance across critical data pipelines and datasets.

  • Work closely with Data, Risk, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Security, and Compliance teams to deeply understand their data needs and translate them into phased infrastructure roadmaps — building the right thing now, not the perfect thing later.

  • Build abstractions, tooling, and frameworks that allow engineers and analysts to safely create, discover, consume, and share data at scale.

  • Design infrastructure for both batch and real-time data use cases, balancing latency, correctness, cost, and operational complexity.

  • Solve challenging problems around entity resolution, data freshness, schema evolution, access control, privacy boundaries, and partner-specific data contracts.

  • Improve the reliability and scalability of data systems through automation, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and capacity planning.

  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate your own work — writing code, automating repetitive tasks, and increasing the velocity of infrastructure delivery.

  • Advocate for strong engineering practices in data infrastructure, including reproducible pipelines, clear ownership, robust testing, and operational excellence.

What We Look For
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience building data platforms, distributed systems, infrastructure, or backend systems at scale — with a track record of operating them in production at high availability and high scalability.

  • Fintech experience, particularly in data infrastructure. The problems we're solving — identity graph, partner data sharing, cross-program data unification — are unique to our business model, and domain fluency matters.

  • Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous, undefined problems and drive them from ambiguity to clarity to shipped solutions — without waiting for a playbook.

  • Strong experience designing and operating production data systems including ingestion, processing, quality validation, and scalable output.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data infrastructure, including object storage, warehouses, lakehouse architectures, streaming systems, and compute platforms.

  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals, with proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, Go, or Kotlin.

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools for coding, automation, and engineering productivity.

  • Experience working closely with internal customers — engineering, data, product, finance, marketing — to deeply understand their requirements and build phased product roadmaps. Not perfect systems, but the right systems for right now.

  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to reason about trade-offs across latency, consistency, reliability, scalability, cost, and developer experience — and to make decisions appropriate for the current stage of the business.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. This team operates as a platform team with many stakeholders — you need to build trust, communicate trade-offs clearly, and partner across functions.

  • High ownership mindset with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and craftsmanship.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced fintech startup where priorities shift and ambiguity is the norm.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have
  • Experience building partner-facing or externally shared data platforms with strong access control, auditing, and contract management.

  • Experience with identity resolution, entity matching, graph-based data systems, customer 360 platforms, or knowledge graphs.

  • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments such as banking, lending, payments, SOC, PCI, or similar domains.

  • Experience with streaming platforms and real-time data systems such as Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar technologies.

  • Experience with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Iceberg, Delta Lake, or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with privacy-preserving data sharing, clean rooms, data contracts, consent management, or fine-grained authorization models.

  • Experience improving data platform reliability through observability, automated validation, backfills, incident response, and service-level objectives.

Challenging Problems You'll Drive
  • Partner data sharing at scale: Build a platform that allows Imprint to exchange high-value data with partners while maintaining strict guarantees around security, privacy, correctness, freshness, and auditability.

  • Identity graph foundations: Design systems that connect fragmented data across users, accounts, cards, merchants, partners, and events to create a trusted foundation for future product intelligence.

  • Data trust and quality: Create infrastructure that makes data reliable by default, with clear ownership, validation, quality benchmarking, and automated detection of anomalies before they impact business-critical decisions.

  • End-to-end scalability: Design data systems that handle rapid company growth — from ingestion through processing through output — without compromising availability, correctness, or operational simplicity.

  • Real-time and batch trade-offs: Help define when data needs to be immediate, when it needs to be complete, and how to build infrastructure that can support both without unnecessary complexity.

  • Platform leverage: Turn repeated data engineering patterns into reusable capabilities that improve velocity across Product, Risk, Finance, Analytics, and Engineering teams.
