How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Strata, you’ll design, support, and implement improvement plans for the enterprise infrastructure that keeps our SaaS applications reliable and scalable. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues across systems, automate manual work, and help move the team from reactive support toward proactive reliability and modernization.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Support, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Support and maintain infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid environments to ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of Strata's SaaS applications.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues across systems and technologies, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze system and application performance, applying reliability engineering practices across observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, DevOps, Engineering, and Service Desk teams to resolve issues, coordinate support needs, and support infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, runbooks, and technical best practices.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement infrastructure improvements while automating deployments, upgrades, configuration, maintenance, and repetitive operational tasks using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt, single points of failure, and opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to infrastructure modernization initiatives aligned with the team's technical roadmap, evaluating and recommending solutions across cloud infrastructure, virtualization, containerization, disaster recovery, and platform architecture to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate across teams to improve application deployment processes, implement infrastructure enhancements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Our Technology Environment

Our hybrid infrastructure environment is primarily Windows with supporting Linux systems, on-premises VMware infrastructure, and a footprint in both AWS and Azure. Our technology stack includes IIS, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, Docker, and HAProxy. We use Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash for automation, with Dell hardware, Pure Storage, and Rubrik supporting our data center infrastructure.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, cloud, or site reliability engineering.
  • Hands-on experience using Terraform to automate infrastructure and operational processes.
  • Strong experience with at least one scripting language, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise data center infrastructure, particularly Windows-based and on-premises environments, with an understanding of Linux and hybrid systems.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across multiple technologies, conducting root-cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Experience contributing to complex technical projects involving multiple teams or stakeholders, with the ability to communicate effectively and take ownership of solutions.
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with demonstrated curiosity and the ability to learn and apply unfamiliar technologies.

You’ll really wow us if you have:

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring or observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, LogicMonitor, ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or connecting cloud services to on-premises infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure for production web applications, particularly at a software company operating a customer-facing platform.

Travel Expectations

  • Ability to travel to our Oak Brook location approximately once per month, including occasional Saturdays and additional visits as business needs arise. Reliable transportation is required.

Estimated Salary Range: $95,000-120,000
