About the Team

The Intelligence and Investigations team seeks to analyze global trends to inform leadership decision-making through carefully considered analysis. We are dedicated to identifying emerging trends, analyzing risks, and working with our internal partners to implement effective mitigation strategies. Our efforts contribute to OpenAI's overarching goal of developing AI that benefits humanity.

About the Role

As an Analyst focused on global AI compute and infrastructure at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategic planning and helping to build safe AI.  

We’re looking for people who combine risk management with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be able to clearly articulate complex global compute infrastructure concepts and forecast infrastructure developments across the market. The candidate will be able to collaborate effectively with diverse technical and business teams. We value professionals dedicated to promoting the responsible use of AI. Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning in the rapidly evolving field of AI are also key traits for this role.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Investigate global AI trends, particularly in infrastructure, chip advancements, cloud market capitalization, construction, and emerging technological advancements.

  • Analyze and interpret data to uncover business insights. Identify market trends and recommend strategic actions relating to global compute infrastructure and compute capabilities.

  • Monitor global markets to track emerging trends and shifts in nation-state and large corporate behavior, consumer behavior, economic indicators, and industry dynamics.

  • Engage in continuous learning and skill development to enhance expertise. 

 You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a background in AI hardware and global AI compute and infrastructure trends.

  • Possess excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and distill findings into actionable and strategic insights.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of AI and generative AI technologies, as well as infrastructure and compute principles.

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.

  • Thrive in collaborative environments and work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Are committed to safety principles, with a passion for advancing the responsible use of AI.
