Salary: $65,000 - $72,000 annually

Schedule: Full time (37.5 hours/week), Monday - Friday

Location: 37 Grove St., San Francisco (less than a block from BART/MUNI). In office 4-5 days/week.

Responsibilities:
Compass secures a significant portion of its revenue through grant processes. With the support of the Director of Institutional Giving and the Institutional Giving Manager, the Institutional Giving Associate will research funding prospects, prepare grant submissions, and manage administrative functions of our grant work. These efforts will contribute to the team’s ability to secure significant funding to support Compass’ programmatic work to prevent and end homelessness for families in San Francisco. Specific responsibilities include: 

Grant/Funder Research and Proposal and Report Writing:

  • Research prospects for foundation, corporate, and government funding.
  • Gather information and data needed from Compass internal stakeholders to support grant submissions and reporting.
  • Write and submit funding proposals and reports.
  • Maintain files, master calendar of proposal and report deadlines, and database records on grant prospects, submissions and deliverables.

Grant Coordination:

  • Maintain current data and research on family homelessness and other topic areas related to Compass programs and services.
  • Support relationship maintenance with grant funding contacts, including scheduling meetings and site visits, writing acknowledgement letters, attending bidders conferences, and providing follow-up information and documentation to funders as needed.

Development Team Support:

  • Review and proofread newsletters, fundraising letters, brochures, and other development materials prepared by other Development staff.


Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills required.
  • One to two years of experience in grant writing and reporting strongly preferred.
  • Excellent research, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with ability to think strategically about the big picture.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google suite, Salesforce, Zoom and experience with internet prospect research.
  • Flexible, patient, and adept at multitasking, time management, project management, and adhering to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Compass Family Services.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $33.33 - $36.92 hourly, equivalent to $65,000 - $72,000 annually. Full time, non-exempt role.
  • Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
  • Membership in OPEIU/Local 29 union.

Location: Primarily in office at 37 Grove Street, SF. Fully in-person for first three months, then option to work remotely one day per week pending manager approval.
