About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Instructional Designer & Learning Programs Specialist to help design, build, and deliver learning programs focused on technical upskilling and AI enablement across the company.

This is a hands‑on role that blends instructional design with learning program execution. The person in this role will create high‑quality learning content while also helping shape and support learning programs from early discovery through launch and iteration. A core part of the role is partnering with stakeholders to identify skill gaps, learner pain points, and business needs, and translating those insights into a prioritized learning content pipeline.

The ideal candidate is a practitioner who enjoys building learning, supporting real programs, and enabling learning that scales across roles, regions, and experience levels.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build engaging digital learning content, including self‑paced courses, blended learning assets, and instructor‑led support materials
  • Create short‑form, modular learning such as microlearning, job aids, quick‑reference guides, and performance support for just‑in‑time learning
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, interactive activities, and assessments grounded in adult learning principles
  • Use tools such as Articulate Rise and/or Storyline to create, publish, and continuously improve learning content
  • Support end‑to‑end delivery of learning programs, from early discovery through build, review, launch, and iteration
  • Support and facilitate live learning sessions and workshops for large, global audiences
  • Engage stakeholders to identify skill gaps, learner pain points, and role‑based needs, particularly for technical and digital roles
  • Translate business and learner needs into clear learning objectives and a prioritized content pipeline
  • Contribute to AI and technical upskilling initiatives by supporting course content, learner resources, and program materials
  • Support learning operations across platforms such as AGU and PATHWAY, including publishing, updates, and basic learner support

What you’re good at

  • Designing and building digital learning content, including short‑form and modular learning
  • Applying adult learning principles to create clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences
  • Turning ambiguous inputs and stakeholder needs into structured learning content
  • Balancing content creation with program support and operational follow‑through
  • Communicating clearly in writing and collaborating across teams, roles, and time zones

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience creating microlearning, performance support, just‑in‑time learning assets, or social media-based learning
  • Exposure to technical, digital, or AI‑related learning content
  • Familiarity with LMS/LXP environments and learning publishing workflows
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization
