JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
What You Will Do with JT4
The Instrumentation Operations Engineer Level III will modify, install, test, evaluate, repair, and document the airborne test instrumentation data acquisition systems, as well as the operation and performance of ground support equipment.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Collect data from multiple sensors, develop & analyze data, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines
- Act as a lead of development for the sustainment, operations, and maintenance team on more complex engineering assignments
- Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and meet project requirements
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
- Perform technical analyses and author/present formal technical papers
- Review and develop technical proposals, evaluating scope, feasibility, and level of effort
- Author and maintain system/subsystem specifications and technical documentation
- Directly interface with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and support test activities, and act as liaison for design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
- Conduct site visits and experimental investigations, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
- Performs other position-related duties and assignments as directed
Experience
- Analog and digital electronic fundamentals, familiar with various sensors like strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal sensors, while also possessing an understanding of digital logic and EU conversions
- Proficiency with the Multi-meter, O-scope, spectrum analyzer, and signal generator to accomplish tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair
- Expertise in reading and applying schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams, and technical publications
- IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards and TTC hardware/software
- A variety of electrical, instrumentation, and avionics on-aircraft experience, including bench testing
Requirements - Education, Technical, and Work Experience
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and four years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in Engineering and a minimum of two years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position.
In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
- Mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
- Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines
Salary
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000 annually.

Working Conditions
This position partly involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards and partly involves working in a field environment, with frequent exposure to various weather conditions, temperature extremes, drafts, and noise. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote company work locations may be required. This role necessitates the capability to work in an operational environment, encompassing shift work, overtime, and travel to remote locations.
