Interconnection Manager

Renewable Properties is seeking an experienced and driven Interconnection Manager to lead electrical interconnection and delivery strategies for our distributed generation projects nationwide. This role sits at the center of development, origination, and construction, owning one of the most critical paths to project success.

This role will play a critical role by coordinating pertinent studies, overseeing interconnection processes, managing utility relationships, and guiding initial engineering phases of solar, battery energy storage, and EV site projects across the United States. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments and is motivated by solving complex, time-sensitive challenges that directly influence project viability and company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and identify optimal points of interconnection across target markets, incorporating capacity availability, cost, timeline, and risk.
  • Submit interconnection requests and serve as the primary point of contact with utilities throughout the interconnection process and construction of the facility.
  • Manage all project queue positions and track interconnection processes, study timing, schedule impact, and interconnect requests.
  • Negotiate interconnection study results and interconnection agreements with utilities toward favorable project outcomes.
  • Coordinate efforts to meet all interconnection agreements including interconnection applications, interconnection studies, interconnection agreements, and post-IA project execution milestones.
  • Manage engineering phase responsibilities to complete the interconnection designs and updates.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (site acquisition managers, developers, construction, utilities, and engineers) to assist with the interconnection process.
  • Serve as the company representative at stakeholder meetings, track tariff changes, and interconnection reform.
  • Perform acquisition due diligence to identify project-level interconnection execution risks.
  • Other duties as assigned to support business needs

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy interconnection, transmission planning, and/or power systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes, including distribution-level procedures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience interfacing with utilities, consultants, and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable insights.
  • High attention to detail, ownership mindset, and accountability for results.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and external consultants.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with solar, BESS, and EV charging infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with interconnection processes in key U.S. markets (e.g., CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO).
  • Advanced degree in engineering, energy systems, planning, or a related field.

Why This Role

This is a critical role at a pivotal moment for Renewable Properties. As interconnection becomes an increasingly complex and competitive bottleneck, your work will directly determine which projects succeed, and how quickly they come online. You’ll have the opportunity to shape strategy, influence investment decisions, and play a central role in scaling a high-growth clean energy platform.
