As an intermediate platform development engineer within our site reliability engineering team, you will drive the design, development, and optimization of our monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations engineers, infrastructure, and network teams, will ensure seamless integration and enhanced performance across our systems. Your contributions will be pivotal in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our platforms, making a significant impact on our overall operations.

We practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in-person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

Join our collaborative team as an intermediate platform development engineer!

What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop self-service capabilities for reliability platforms

  • Create monitoring features to proactively detect and address production issues, ensuring high availability

  • Deploy and maintain reliability platforms using infrastructure as code and configuration management

  • Propose and implement platform improvements based on industry best practices

  • Collaborate with engineers, operations, and infrastructure teams to align efforts with business objectives

  • Participate in SLA/post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence and minimize downtime

  • Collaborate with various teams to conduct capacity planning and resource optimization to meet demand

  • Maintain documentation of platform architecture and processes for knowledge sharing

What we are looking for:

  • 2-4 years working as a developer focusing on scripting languages and frontend development (eg: Python, Ruby, HTML, CSS, JS)

  • 2+ years’ experience using IaC and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)

  • 2+ years using monitoring and visualization platforms (e.g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Solarwinds)

  • 2+ years utilizing logging and alerting platforms (e.g. Elastic Search, PagerDuty, GoAlert).

  • 2+ years working with cloud computing providers (eg: Azure, AWS or GCP)

  • 2+ years handling deployment and orchestration of containerized applications (eg: OpenShift, Kubernetes or Docker)

  • Experience working on Linux operating system
