Internship at a Glance:
- Location: Immerse yourself in our innovative culture! This role requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week at our facility in Garden Grove, CA as well as full-time hours (40 hours a week).
- Duration: 10-11 weeks (May 26 to August 7 OR June 22 to August 28)
- Relocation Support: A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns currently residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, CA.
- Compensation: Earn an hourly rate of $25-35 USD per hour.
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an ambitious engineering student to join our Inverter team. As an intern, you will have various opportunities to contribute to the design and development of a new electric vehicle inverter. The primary responsibilities for this position will be creating 2D and 3D CAD of vehicle components and test fixtures, CAE analysis, and developing and executing inverter and component tests. The role also offers the opportunity to build valuable experience at a fast paced, high growth startup during a critical early product development stage.
What You’ll Do:
- Create 2D and 3D CAD using CATIA 3DExperience
- Develop test plans to validate prototype inverter components
- Design test fixtures; overseeing the manufacturing and implementation of the designs
- Design mechanical components for the inverter
- Design enclosures for electrical components
- Gain experience conducting FEA on structural components using industry standard software packages
Who You Are:
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field
- Experience modeling solids and surfaces in CAD
- Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
- Motivation and willingness to learn on the job
- Ability to take ownership of a project, with guidance from the inverter team
- Prior experience in automotive projects is preferred, but not required
- Collegiate teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR, etc.
- Hands-on experience working on vehicles
- Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
- Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes preferred
- Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa
