JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

At the crossroads of cutting-edge journalism, shifting geopolitical landscapes, and next-generation technology, the Multiformat Journalism Intern at Awani International will be immersed in the dynamic world of international news reporting. This role demands agility in tracking global affairs, from trade tensions and power realignments to regional conflicts and diplomatic shifts while leveraging AI tools to enhance the speed, precision, and impact of storytelling. You will work on crafting high-quality, multiformat content tailored for a global audience across all Astro AWANI and Awani International platforms.

What you will do:

Global News Curation & Analysis

  • Monitor and synthesize international developments—from sanctions and cross-border negotiations to emerging multipolar dynamics. Use AI tools to track verified sources and produce timely, accurate news pieces for both traditional and digital platforms.

Fact-Checking & Verification at Scale

  • Use AI-powered tools and manual cross-verification techniques to ensure factual accuracy—particularly in reporting geopolitical events, economic sanctions, international treaties, and multilateral policy decisions.

Narrative Framing within Geopolitical Contexts

  • Craft compelling story angles that reflect the nuances of international power plays, trade disruptions, climate diplomacy, and evolving global norms. Align narratives with the editorial tone of Awani International, catering to an informed, discerning audience.

Multimedia Content Integration

  • Collaborate with visual teams and utilize AI-enhanced visuals, maps, data visualization, and video synthesis tools to support complex global narratives—e.g., supply chain disruptions, defense realignments, or climate-linked migration.

Real-Time Geopolitical Reporting

  • Utilize social media listening tools and geopolitical trend trackers to identify high-impact developments (e.g., summits, economic reports, regional unrest). Be ready to contribute to rapid-response reporting when global events break.

Editorial Writing & Cross-Platform Adaptation

  • Maintain consistent editorial standards across formats. Write, rewrite, and edit scripts or stories for long-form explainers, newsletters, digital streams, or on-air segments. Adjust tones and formats for audience-specific channels.

International Content Distribution

  • Use AI-assisted distribution tools to optimize content performance across web, mobile, and social platforms. Track algorithmic changes in global content platforms to boost international visibility.

Cross-Border Collaboration & Innovation

  • Work closely with journalists, editors, and technologists across time zones to refine editorial strategies, innovate new formats, and pitch stories that connect local realities to global implications.

Global Audience Engagement & Insight Analysis

  • Engage with international audiences via comments, polls, and direct interaction. Use AI analytics to gauge cross-market impact, audience sentiment, and content reach—especially on stories with regional or global resonance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of international affairs, geoeconomics, and global diplomacy
  • Familiarity with generative AI and its journalistic applications
  • Proficiency in writing and editing across multiple platforms
  • Strong awareness of global social media trends and content distribution algorithms
  • Ability to multitask under pressure and handle complex, high-stakes narratives
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, curiosity, and a deep interest in how the world works
