Intern, Process Engineering

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing fixtures/tooling as needed for prototype build, assist senior engineers in performing process development activities in the OSA lab, perform Design of Experiments (DOEs) to determine optimum solutions to manufacturing issues.

Education & Experience

• No experience necessary.
• Must be enrolled in college per the Coherent Internship Guidelines.

Skills

• Capable of using Solid Works to design simple fixtures/tooling.
• Work effectively in a team setting as well as an individual contributor with limited supervision.

Working Conditions

• This role will be based on-site in Fremont, CA.
• Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.
• Cleanroom work  may be needed
• Use of mechanical dimension inspection equipment

Physical Requirements

• Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
• Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
• Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
•  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
