At BetterHelp, you’ll carve your own path, make an immediate impact, and be challenged every day – with a supportive community behind you the whole way.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an SEO/AEO Strategist to own and drive our organic search optimization strategy across both traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered search experiences. This role will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and executing large-scale content refresh initiatives, maximizing visibility for high-impact content, monitoring competitive performance, and reporting insights back to the team. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with hands-on optimization experience and a deep understanding of how search is evolving.

This individual will ensure our content is not only discoverable, but also the most helpful, authoritative, and trustworthy answer available for users within a highly regulated industry. Success in this role requires balancing search optimization with exceptional content quality, leveraging E-E-A-T principles in the YMYL category, and using performance insights to drive measurable growth across both traditional and AI-powered search experiences.

What will you do?Search Strategy & Optimization
  • Develop and execute SEO and AEO strategies that improve visibility across traditional search engines and AI-powered search experiences.
  • Build, own, and manage large-scale AI-assisted content refresh initiatives across the U.S. content portfolio.
  • Identify, prioritize, and optimize high-impact content opportunities based on search demand, business goals, and conversion potential.
  • Ensure refreshed content aligns with E-E-A-T principles and represents the most helpful, authoritative, and trustworthy answer available for users.
  • Stay current on search algorithm updates, AI search developments, and industry best practices, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary owner of SEO and AEO performance reporting across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance summaries for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze rankings, traffic, conversions, visibility, engagement, and AI search performance.
  • Measure the impact of optimization initiatives and provide data-driven recommendations for future improvements.
  • Communicate key trends, risks, opportunities, and strategic insights on a recurring basis.
Content & Competitive Intelligence
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of content performance, competitor strategies, and search visibility.
  • Identify content gaps, emerging topics, and opportunities to improve topical authority and search performance.
  • Evaluate content quality through the lens of user intent, expertise, completeness, trustworthiness, and answer quality—not solely keyword coverage or rankings.
  • Partner with editorial, content, clinical, and subject matter experts to improve content quality and optimization outcomes.
  • Leverage expert authorship, clinical review, citations, and trust signals to strengthen content authority and search performance.
Planning & Prioritization
  • Analyze performance data to identify and prioritize content refresh opportunities for upcoming sprints.
  • Maintain a roadmap of optimization initiatives based on business impact, competitive positioning, and search opportunity.
  • Recommend which content should be refreshed, expanded, consolidated, or enhanced to maximize organic growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure optimization efforts align with broader business objectives.
What will you NOT do?
  • You will NOT worry about "runway", "cash left", or "how much time we have until the next round". We have the startup DNA but we're fully backed and funded, all the way to success.
  • You will NOT be confined to your "job". You will get involved in product, marketing, business strategy, and almost everything we do.
  • You will NOT be bogged down by office politics, ego, or bad attitude. Only positive, pleasure-to-work-with people are allowed here!
  • You will NOT get yourself burned out. We work hard but we believe in maintaining a sustainable work/life balance. Really.
Can I work remotely?

  • Experience managing or optimizing large-scale editorial ecosystems consisting of hundreds or thousands of content assets.

  • Strong understanding of E-E-A-T principles and modern search quality frameworks.
  • Experience optimizing content authored, reviewed, or validated by credentialed experts.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing search performance and translating insights into optimization strategies.
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards and reporting for stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Experience using platforms such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, GA4, AirOps, Profound, and related SEO tools.
