About the Planet Impact in STEM Program:

Are you looking to balance your computer science or coding education with real-world experience? In the fall of 2020, for the first time, Planet is piloting an internship program that seeks to benefit members of historically marginalized and underrepresented groups within STEM. In the 16 weeks that you’re with us, you’ll have access to Planet’s internal resources to help support you in having a great experience working remotely at Planet, whether you’re working in a part- or full-time capacity. You’ll join your team alongside a cohort of other fellows, while becoming a part of an inclusive culture that thrives on collaboration and launching new ideas. Location: Oakland, Detroit, Atlanta 

Duration: October 12 2020 - February 19, 2021

Pay Rate: $25/hour 


About the Role:

Quality Assurance interns will be an integral part of our development team, and act as internal customers. They work on broader aspects of the platform making sure all the pieces are working well in-sync before product releases.

You will interface and work with cross functional teams to cultivate a good grasp of each feature, common customer workflows and testability. This role will be involved in different phases of the software development life cycle, reviewing requirements to creating and automating tests. On a given day work could span from creating test scenarios, test automation, exploratory testing and verification of issues. 


Impact You’ll Own:

  • Opportunity to work on testing Core platform, web applications and Analytics features within software engineering. 
  • Your work will ensure customers use high quality features
  • With automation test coverage, teams  receive quick feedback on the current state of application.
  • This role will be integrated to a scrum team, working closely with Product owners, Developers and Quality Engineers.

What You Bring:

  • Create, maintain automation test scripts using test framework. 
  • Work with developers and Quality engineers to ensure product quality. 
  • Write test scenarios, validate new features before release. 
  • Document issues in defect tracking system, verify them after resolution
  • Willing to learn new technologies, alignment with existing priorities.

You Should Have:

  • Python programming or similar 
  • Basic git and unix skills 
  • Exposure to Quality Assurance fundamentals and process 
  • Interest in testing, user experience and quality in general
