The opportunity

We are hiring a junior investment professional at the Investment Analyst level to join Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG), the venture and growth equity arm of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP). Based in our San Francisco office, you will support North American direct investments across origination, due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio monitoring.

OTPP manages US$200+ billion in net assets with a 9.2% annualized total-fund net return since inception in 1990, investing to deliver retirement income for 340,000 working members and pensioners. At Ontario Teachers', we don't just invest to make a return, we invest to shape a better future for the teachers we serve, the businesses we back, and the world we live in.

TVG is the division of OTPP focused on investing in high-growth technology companies. TVG's 30+ investors work from offices in San Francisco, Toronto, London, Singapore, and Mumbai, backing high-growth technology companies at the frontier of AI, enterprise software, climate/energy transition, and financial services. We focus on companies with established product-market fit, with initial commitments ranging from $50M–$250M of equity. Our portfolio includes SpaceX, Anthropic, Databricks, Canva, Gusto, and Epic Games — companies reshaping entire industries.

Who you’ll work with

You will report to a Director or Principal on TVG's North American direct investments team, based in our San Francisco office. You will work cross-functionally with investment professionals across TVG's global offices and partner closely with other teams across OTPP to ensure continued alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

What you’ll do

  • Play a critical role across all stages of the investment process: origination, due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio monitoring

  • Develop investment theses and financial models including projections, sensitivity analysis, and valuations

  • Drive sector research to identify investment targets and perform competitive analysis

  • Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to internal committees

  • Build and maintain relationships with founders, investors, and service providers to support deal sourcing

  • Evaluate and monitor the ongoing portfolio company performance, and support ongoing strategic initiatives and reporting requirements

  • Represent TVG at industry conferences and annual meetings

What you’ll need

  • 1+ years of investment or deal experience (investment banking, private equity, VC, hedge fund, management consulting)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Strong financial modelling and quantitative analysis skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong work ethic, team mindset, communication & presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a high-performance team environment

  • Genuine passion for disruptive technology and the startup ecosystem

  • Willingness to actively experiment with and adopt AI workflow tools as the technology and our practices evolve

The base salary range for this position ranges from USD $110,000 to $150,000.

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The exact placement within the range will be determined by an assessment of the incumbent’s knowledge, skills and experience relative to the requirements of the role and to internal peers. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible to participate in Teachers' annual incentive plan.
