Reporting to the Director, Climate Innovation & Investment, the Investment Principal will support, and over time lead, all elements of Autodesk strategic investment process in early-stage climate tech and sustainability startups – spanning vehicle structuring, thesis development, opportunity sourcing, due diligence, deal execution and portfolio management.  You’ll work as an integral member of the Impact Team in close coordination with Corporate Development, Finance, and Autodesk product and strategy teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support global deal sourcing efforts and initial company screenings

  • Refine investment operations through deepening co-investor networks of like-minded venture funds, accelerators, and corporates

  • Conduct sector and industry analyses to sharpen and define entirely new investment focus areas

  • Serve as a board observer and support governance and reporting across the portfolio

  • Partner across business units—including product, Autodesk Platform Services, Industry Strategy and Autodesk Research—to identify high-value strategic opportunities for corporate engagements with the existing ventures portfolio

  • Support the build out of an optimal post-investment process to maximize value to the portfolio and to Autodesk

  • Analyze and distill industry insights from the portfolio for key internal and external audiences, including Autodesk executives and Autodesk’s Board of Directors

  • Hire and nurture a high-performing team of investors

Minimum Qualifications

  • An ideal candidate has climate technology experience specifically within construction, manufacturing and/or real estate ecosystems

  • Strong entrepreneurial background and spirit, with experience helping build new efforts within larger organizations

  • Deep analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Experience with corporate VC investment operations and management, including market, financial and business model analysis

  • Proven communications skills, both written and verbal, to distill complex solutions and market opportunities into actions that yield results

  • Excitement to lead the inner workings of corporate impact strategies and participate in shaping the future of Autodesk and its industries using innovation
