UnitedLex is adding a Consultant, IP Source Code Reviewer to our IP Engineering and Research team.  The Consultant will perform review of source code in a variety of programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Objective C, Python, and JavaScript. This role requires regular travel to onsite locations in the US to perform source code reviews for patent/intellectual property litigation cases. The Consultant will also create reports, including a function calls summary, showing how key functionalities are performed by the software whose source code has been reviewed.

This is a remote position, which requires regular travel to client sites Monday - Friday.  We welcome applicants from throughout the United States. See "About Us" for more information about our corporate philosophy, perks, and benefits!

Responsibilities:  

  • Complete projects involving source code review. Travel onsite to review the source code produced at client locations across the US.
  • Consult attorneys, litigators, and technical experts on patent/technical litigations and help them build/support the technical infringement theory in patent/technical litigation cases.
  • Perform patent and software source code analysis and prepare detailed Evidence of Use reports, showing how claimed functionalities are performed by accused software product.
  • Provide timely reports to project manager and clients, and ensure assigned tasks are executed within the stipulated timelines and with quality.
  • Take complete ownership of communication with client about technical deliverables.

Requirements: 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • 4+ years of IP and/or Software industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more programming languages such as JAVA, C++, C, C#, Objective-C, Python or JavaScript is a must
  • Knowledge of web, mobile, and enterprise software products and services is preferred 
  • Knowledge of hardware programming languages such Verilog or VHDL is a plus   
  • Experience in Software Architecture, App development and debugging is a plus
  • Ability to undertake software/firmware reverse engineering is a plus.
  • Capability to understand complex/cutting-edge technologies and ability to explain them accurately in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Excellent content writing skills and solid verbal communication skills

Salary Range

The salary range for this role reflects the range of factors that inform case-by-case compensation decisions including education, experience, training, licensure, certification, and geography as well as the business and organizational needs specific to the role. Compensation ranges may be broad, reflecting flexibility within the budget and title to consider candidates of varied experience. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this role is $105,000 - $125,000 per year. Select roles are additionally eligible for Incentive Compensation in the form of our Annual Performance Bonus Program.
