Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will own the design, deployment, configuration, and support of the IT and OT infrastructure that underpins the SCADA systems for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.

This role is responsible for building and maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure across SCADA servers, virtualization platforms, networking, cybersecurity, remote access, storage, backups, and field connectivity.

This person will work closely with SCADA engineering, controls, commissioning, project management, supply chain, product engineering, and IT operations teams to ensure infrastructure is standardized, deployable, supportable, and aligned with project delivery schedules and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, configure, and support SCADA infrastructure including servers, storage, network switches, firewalls, remote access systems, virtualization platforms, and backup systems for utility-scale PV and BESS projects.

·       Own the architecture and lifecycle management of Windows-based SCADA environments, domain structure, user access, patching strategy, antivirus, endpoint hardening, and system recovery processes.

·       Deploy and maintain virtualization solutions such as Hyper-V and/or VMware, including VM creation, templates, resource allocation, performance tuning, and migration strategies.

·       Configure and troubleshoot industrial and enterprise networking including VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, NAT, cellular modems, and secure remote access for project sites and internal engineering environments.

·       Support SCADA application hosting environments including server readiness, redundancy design, historian storage, NAS/SAN integration, backup and restore procedures, and disaster recovery planning.

·       Develop and maintain standard infrastructure architectures, build documentation, network diagrams, BOM inputs, installation standards, and commissioning support procedures.

·       Partner with SCADA software, controls, and commissioning teams to ensure infrastructure is ready for FAT, eFAT, HIL testing, site deployment, and long-term operations.

·       Troubleshoot infrastructure issues during integration, FAT, commissioning, and post-COD support, including server performance, network connectivity, remote communications, and cybersecurity controls.

·       Work with supply chain and manufacturing teams to define standard hardware selections, manage infrastructure-related procurement inputs, and improve build quality and repeatability.

·       Implement cybersecurity best practices across SCADA and OT environments, including user authentication, network segmentation, firewall rules, endpoint protection, logging, access control, and secure remote connectivity.

·       Contribute to infrastructure standards for project delivery as well as internal R&D, HIL, and demo/testbed environments.

·       Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for infrastructure-related field issues, quality issues, and delivery delays.

RequirementsRequired Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

·       5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, network engineering, or industrial/OT infrastructure roles.

·       Experience deploying and supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, user/group policies, remote desktop environments, and server administration.

·       Experience with virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and/or VMware.

·       Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and remote communications.

·       Experience with server hardware, RAID/storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning.

·       Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues across hardware, networking, virtualization, operating systems, and remote access layers.

·       Strong documentation skills including network architecture diagrams, build procedures, standards, and troubleshooting guides.

·       Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, project delivery, commissioning, and operations teams in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience in SCADA, industrial automation, OT networks, or critical infrastructure environments such as power, renewables, utilities, manufacturing, or data centers.

·       Familiarity with industrial networking, serial-to-IP communications, protocol gateways, and remote site connectivity.

·       Experience supporting Ignition-based SCADA systems or similar industrial software platforms.

·       Understanding of cybersecurity requirements for OT and SCADA environments.

·       Experience with utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, PPC, EMS, or plant control environments.

·       Familiarity with FAT, SAT, commissioning, and field deployment support.

·       Experience with cloud-connected infrastructure, remote monitoring environments, and hybrid OT/IT architectures.

Key Skills

·       SCADA and OT infrastructure design

·       Windows server administration

·       Hyper-V / VMware virtualization

·       Industrial and enterprise networking

·       Cybersecurity and access control

·       Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery

·       Technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis

·       Documentation and standardization

·       Cross-functional collaboration

·       Project delivery support

Success Metrics

·       Infrastructure readiness for FAT, commissioning, and deployment is achieved on schedule.

·       Reduced infrastructure-related project delays, field issues, and support escalations.

·       Standardized infrastructure designs improve quality, repeatability, and deployment speed.

·       Secure, reliable, and maintainable SCADA environments are delivered across projects.

·       Strong coordination with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and project teams.
