Role Summary

Responsible for providing immediate, hands-on local IT support for the Mesabi ISP Project team, ensuring reliable IT infrastructure, systems, and end-user support during the project's setup and ramp-up phases. The role reports to the Head of IT and serves as the first point of contact for day-to-day IT needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate, on-site local IT support for project offices and personnel, including hardware, software, network, and end-user device support.
  • Set up and maintain IT infrastructure for new project offices, including workstations, printers, network connectivity, and collaboration tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, email, and business applications.
  • Support onboarding of new employees with IT equipment setup, system access, and account provisioning.
  • Coordinate with the Head of IT and broader IT team on infrastructure rollouts, cybersecurity practices, and IT policy compliance.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory, licensing records, and vendor coordination for local hardware and software procurement.
  • Support network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and telecommunications setup for project sites and temporary offices.
  • Assist with basic administration of enterprise systems, including Microsoft 365, ERP, and collaboration platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security protocols, data protection standards, and company IT policies.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate specialist teams and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Document IT procedures, common issues, and resolutions to build a local support knowledge base.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline; preferably recruited from a U.S. university.
  • Prior IT support, helpdesk, or systems administration experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of desktop support, networking fundamentals, and common enterprise IT systems (Microsoft 365, Active Directory, etc.).
  • Good troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently to provide immediate local IT support while coordinating with the broader IT organization.
  • Reports to the Head of IT team.
Working Conditions
  • Based in the United States, providing on-site local IT support for the Mesabi ISP Project offices.
  • May require flexibility to support project office setup activities and occasional travel between project locations.
Preferred Experience
  • Recent graduate or early-career professional from a U.S. university with relevant IT internships or coursework.
  • Familiarity with supporting greenfield project office setups or fast-growing organizations.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
