Opto is engineering the future of private markets to improve client outcomes and drive capital to the most transformative ideas.

The opportunity is huge. The global alternative investments industry is forecast to grow to $30T by 2029, however the private investment process typically remains opaque, highly manual, and error-prone, which limits access to the select few insiders who are willing to bear the pain.

Opto is a revolutionary end-to-end solution for wealth managers of any size- from small investment advisors to large multi-family offices to private banks- to build, fundraise for, and manage private markets programs at scale. We combine exceptional Silicon Valley engineering talent with experienced investors and industry specialists to fix this broken system through the power of technology. Our platform banishes the nightmare of slide decks, spreadsheets, and paperwork to the past, and arms our clients with the tools, data, and guidance to identify and access the right opportunities for their clients.

Fixing private markets will not be easy and demands courage, but we’re not afraid to do things differently. We are unapologetically bold. We value strong opinions, clear communication, and purposeful execution.

Up for the challenge? Come join us.

The Role

At Opto, the Platform team builds and maintains the systems that keep our company running smoothly behind the scenes. From core infrastructure to security and compliance, the team ensures that every employee has the tools, access, and support they need to do their best work. We collaborate closely with Engineering, Compliance, and Finance to build the rails upon which we build our platform and operate our business.

Within this team, the IT Specialist will own Opto’s internal IT environment, from workstations and office systems to identity and access management. This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you’ll be the go-to partner for day-to-day IT needs, oversee onboarding and offboarding, administer internal software systems, and manage vendor relationships. You’ll play a key role in keeping employees productive, connected, and secure—while also shaping how IT evolves as Opto scales.

Expectations
  • Provide IT support to enable connectivity and business operations between two offices and remote employees.
  • Set up and support workstations, office equipment, meeting rooms, and network infrastructure.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory and manage the full lifecycle of company devices.
  • Deploy and administer access to all internal software systems.
  • Manage vendor partnerships end-to-end, balancing cost, security, and contract terms.
  • Partner with finance to set budgets and conduct periodic vendor reviews.
  • Create and enforce IT policies in partnership with InfoSec and Compliance, in support of SOC2 and contractual obligations.
  • Operate and continuously improve employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Monitor and improve IT service delivery using data-driven metrics and feedback loops.
  • Prioritize effectively between day-to-day support and longer term goals.
Qualifications
  • 4-year technical degree (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of IT operations, systems administration, or related experience.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as wealth management, banking/payments, or healthcare.
  • Exposure to identity and access management, endpoint management, and SaaS administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Workspace, Okta/Auth0, AWS IAM, ZipSecurity, and JAMF.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC2 and ISO27001.
  • Experience collaborating with InfoSec & Compliance to define policy, manage risk, and remediate issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity with ability to operate independently and proactively.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Bonus: Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity.
  • Bonus: Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) for task automation.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
