The Labor Center in the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at the University of California, Berkeley is recruiting for a Technology and Work Program Director (Full Specialist), with an expected start in Spring 2026.
The Technology and Work Program Director will oversee, develop, and conduct research, policy analysis, and training related to rapid technological change in the workplace. The goal of the Program is to ensure that AI and other digital technologies benefit rather than harm workers – including the workers of color, women, and immigrants who are often on the frontlines of experimentation with emerging technologies. The Director will also supervise research staff, fundraise, contribute to organizational leadership, and engage with a diverse group of stakeholders.

The current full-time base salary range for this position is $94,500 - $197,700.
"Off-scale" salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
