Position: Junior Application Developer (Application Modernization)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance, if required.
FT/PT Status: FT Subcontractor Role
Location: Remote (Based in Fairfax, VA)
Overview:
Kreative Technologies is in search for a motivated Junior Application Developer familiar with one or more enterprise development technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, Java, or similar technologies.
The modernization strategy may include migration to a Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution, redevelopment on a modern application framework, or a hybrid approach. The selected candidate will work closely with senior engineers and architects throughout the modernization effort. Training will be provided on the selected COTS platform or modernization technologies as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing applications built with C#, ASP.NET, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Assist senior developers in analyzing existing application functionality, business processes, and system integrations to support modernization activities.
- Assist in migrating application functionality to a modern technology platform, which may include a COTS solution, a custom-developed application, or a hybrid architecture.
- Participate in application design, development, testing, deployment, and implementation activities.
- Write and maintain SQL queries and assist in developing stored procedures and other database objects.
- Assist in developing, testing, and consuming RESTful and SOAP-based services.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and defect resolution.
- Collaborate with technical leads, business analysts, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Support compliance with federal security requirements, accessibility (Section 508), and organizational development standards.
- Continuously learn new technologies and development practices to support evolving modernization objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of software development experience through employment, internships, cooperative education, or significant academic projects.
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming and experience with one or more technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, Java, or similar development frameworks.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web application development.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in learning modern application architecture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance, if required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Exposure to modern .NET (.NET Core/.NET 8+) or other contemporary application development frameworks.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, cloud-native application concepts, or containerization.
- Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or other version control and DevOps tools.
- Understanding of secure software development practices and OWASP recommendations.
- Exposure to Agile software development methodologies.
- Exposure to enterprise application integration concepts.
- Interest in application modernization, digital transformation, and enterprise software migration.
- Security+ certification is preferred.
- Experience with or willingness to learn commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) enterprise platforms. Training will be provided on the selected platform as required.
Compensation:
- $45,000 - $55,000 annually
