Maintain templates and asset libraries, prep files for vendors, and collaborate with marketing, leadership, and engineering to ensure cohesive brand identity and high-quality production.
Firestorm is seeking a Junior Art Director to provide high-level creative direction, refresh our brand guidelines and execute the company’s day-to-day creative output across marketing, events, and executive communications. You will be responsible for shaping how Firestorm looks and feels across every touchpoint — bringing strategic creative thinking alongside the ability to execute high-craft visual assets that make us stand out in the defense technology ecosystem.
You will be reporting to Marketing, this is a hands-on specialist role with direct ownership of creative production and high visibility across the organization.

What You’ll Do
Lead the design across ongoing projects including but not limited to:
- Brand guidelines refresh.
- Social media visual assets.
- Pitch decks.
- Product slick sheets and one-pagers.
- Event banners and trade show materials.
- Product sticker designs.
- Creative campaign posters.
- Merchandise.
Creative Direction & Brand Strategy
- Develop and articulate a cohesive visual direction that reflects Firestorm's identity and differentiates us in the defense technology space.
- Bring creative insight and strategic thinking to brand decisions — not just execution, but vision.
- Collaborate with marketing and leadership to ensure creative output aligns with company positioning and narrative.
Brand Stewardship
- Apply and uphold Firestorm’s brand guidelines across all internal and external assets.
- Maintain templates, asset libraries, and production files so the broader team can move quickly and stay on-brand.
- Prep and hand off files for print and digital production vendors.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations & the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
- 3+ years of professional graphic design / art direction experience.
- A portfolio demonstrating brand identity work, typography, layout, hierarchy, illustration, and composition across digital and print.
- Experience with developing visual brand identity.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Figma.
- Ability to operate independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a high craft bar.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing within technical B2B/B2G categories.
- Experience with Photo Illustration, Photo Compositing/Photomontage and/or Vectorizing.
- Experience working in a startup environment.
Work Environment
- Position is working remotely, with option to work from headquarters located in San Diego, CA as desired.
- Regular collaboration with executive, marketing, and engineering teams.
- Occasional travel as needed.
Compensation
- US Hourly Range: $50 - $60
- Up to 20 hours per week to start with the opportunity for more
Final rate will be determined and outlined in the offer letter with clearly defined objectives, milestones, deliverables and expectations.
