Position Summary

The Junior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Company. Working closely with Company management, CSL’s internal finance team, and our outsourced accounting partners, this role assists with project support, financial analysis, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and state compliance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses exceptional attention to detail, and is eager to learn government contracting compliance (DCAA) and corporate finance workflows. CSL offers a fully remote or hybrid working environment with a supportive culture dedicated to maintaining a sustainable, balanced workweek.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Project Support & Financial Analysis
  • Project Launch Processes: Support project managers (PMs) with initial project setup, tracking, and onboarding workflows.
  • Project Profitability Monitoring: Assist in tracking project-specific margins and analyzing project financial health.
  • Project Reconciliation: Routinely reconcile project managers’ tracking sheets with accounting data to maintain financial alignment.
  • PM Advisory Support: Act as the first point of contact for project managers regarding basic financial, tracking, and system questions.
  • JV Status Reporting: Assist in preparing CFS JV contract status reports.
  • Variance & Data Analysis: Support the team in analyzing financial variances between actual and budgeted results, identifying trends, and preparing performance reports.
  • Cash Flow Modeling: Assist in maintaining and developing corporate cash flow models and projections.
Accounts Payable (AP) Management
  • Employee Expense Approvals: Review employee expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Staff Expense Support: Serve as the primary resource for internal staff questions regarding expense policies and tracking.
  • Vendor Operations and Payments: Collaborate with our outsourced accounting firm to process accounts payable and handle transactional accounting work.
Accounts Receivable (AR) Management
  • Client Invoicing Support: Provide hands-on assistance to PMs in submitting, reviewing, and editing client invoices.
  • Aged Receivables Monitoring: Actively monitor client invoice payments, identify overdue balances, and lead follow-up efforts with clients.
  • AR Reconciliation: Reconcile incoming payments with project invoices to ensure ledger accuracy.
Compliance, Tax, & Audit Support
  • State Tax Support: Execute state business registrations and maintain the company's compliance tracker.
  • DCAA Compliance Assistance: Help ensure compliance with DCAA regulations by tracking allowable costs, participating in contract audits, and organizing necessary documentation.
  • Year-End Audits: Help prepare necessary files, reconciliations, and general ledger reports for year-end corporate financial audits.
  • Policy Compliance: Conform to organizational policies, internal procedures, and government regulations.
  • Other Duties: Perform other operational and administrative finance tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field is required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, or bookkeeping.
  • Software Skills:
    • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks Online or similar).
    • Experience with Government Contracting (GovCon) ERP systems (such as Unanet or Deltek) is preferred.
    • Proficient to advanced skillset in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel (xlookups, pivot tables, and formulas).
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace tools is preferred.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Knowledge of Federal Contracting Accounting Standards and other regulations (CAS, FAR, DCAA, etc.) is a strong plus.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Acute attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
    • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort collaborating across all management levels.
    • Versatility, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, evolving consulting environment.

Compensation

Converge Strategies, LLC, offers a competitive salary, vacation, and benefits package, including health insurance and retirement benefits (including 401(k) matching). This is a full-time, salaried position. The target annual salary range for this role is $62,000 - $70,000 with final compensation determined by experience and qualifications. Employees are eligible for an annual incentive under the CSL Annual Incentive and Merit Plan.
