Saalex is seeking a Junior Systems Developer & Data Analyst in Ridgecrest, CA to support the Aircrew Electronic Warfare Tactical Training Ranges Integrated Product Team. This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing an internal operations and project management application, automating workflows, developing data pipelines, and creating Power BI dashboards that provide program leadership with visibility into training range activities.

The position will primarily support a custom SharePoint Framework application built with TypeScript and React, with SharePoint Lists serving as the operational data backend. This is a part-time, fully remote position requiring approximately 20 hours per week

Position Type: Part-Time (approximately 20 hours per week)

Salary: $36.00-$40.00 Hourly (depending upon experience)

Work Location: Fully Remote.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot a custom SharePoint Framework web application developed with TypeScript and React.
  • Develop and update application features, custom user interface components, and supporting data structures.
  • Use SharePoint Lists as the operational data backend for application functionality and reporting.
  • Build and refine application modules supporting operational tracking, contract management, document routing, travel approvals, and schedule deconfliction.
  • Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, reporting models, and interactive dashboards using Power BI and Power Query/M.
  • Integrate multiple data sources into consolidated reports that provide program leadership with actionable operational information.
  • Monitor automated data refresh processes and resolve issues that affect reporting availability or accuracy.
  • Design and develop internal data visualization tools, including system architecture diagrams and graph, network, or data-flow visualizations.
  • Perform application administration activities, including managing permissions, processing access requests, investigating bugs, and resolving user support issues.
  • Support application operations within secure Department of Defense IT environments and comply with applicable platform restrictions, approval requirements, and connector limitations.
  • Evaluate development tools, libraries, and technical solutions against established criteria and recommend appropriate architecture or application improvements.
  • Review existing source code, data models, workflow schemas, and application configurations to identify maintenance and enhancement requirements.
  • Independently resolve application issues and implement incremental feature updates
  • Maintain organized, well-commented source code repositories and accurate technical documentation.
  • Communicate application changes, technical recommendations, and data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Required:

  • Hands-on experience developing custom web applications or solutions using TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
  • Experience with, or strong familiarity with, SharePoint Framework.
  • Hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Practical knowledge of Power Query/M for extracting, transforming, and preparing data.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software issues, investigate bugs, and support application users.
  • Ability to understand and maintain existing source code, data models, and workflow configurations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts, application updates, and data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned responsibilities, and take ownership of application support and development activities.
  • Must be able to work effectively within secure Department of Defense IT environments.

Desired:

  • Previous internship or professional experience within a Department of Defense, military, or government contracting IT environment.
  • Experience developing graph, tree, network, system architecture, or data-flow visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, or similar low-code and workflow automation platforms.
  • Understanding of the operational and technical limitations of low-code platforms within enterprise environments.
  • Experience conducting structured, criteria-based evaluations of technologies, development tools, libraries, or vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a technical project from requirements definition through deployment.
  • Experience administering application permissions and supporting end users.
  • Experience with SharePoint Lists as an application data source.
  • Experience maintaining automated Power BI data refresh processes.
  • Portfolio or GitHub examples demonstrating relevant development experience.

Education/Years of Experience:

Currently pursuing or possessing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.

This position is appropriate for a student, recent graduate, or early-career technical professional with relevant hands-on development and data analytics experience.

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
