We’re looking for a world-class art director who lives at the intersection of design and emerging technology. Someone who can see where creative tools are going and get there first. Your mission is to help shape the Stability AI brand through exceptional craft, taste, and experimentation. You’ll report directly to the Creative Director, who oversees the company's creative vision. And be a vital part of a lean, but high-performing marketing team. This role goes beyond traditional advertising or brand building. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to help create the best possible AI creative tools, serving as both maker and tester, often as an audience of one.
This position blends strategic thinking, design leadership, and creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment. You’ll use AI not just as a tool but as a medium, experimenting with new workflows, testing models before anyone else, and pushing creative boundaries every day.
If you’re an art director who thinks like a creative technologist, someone who can move fluidly between brand guidelines, bold creative ideas, motion design, color grading, and AI workflows, you’ll fit right in.
As we continue to scale, change will be a constant. While this job description reflects what you will focus on today, the role will naturally evolve as our business grows and the market matures.
What you’ll do:
- Partner closely with the Creative Director to define and evolve Stability AI's visual identity.
- Develop and execute smart, provocative ideas that resonate with our audience.
- Create assets across brand touchpoints, including social media, the Stability website and blog, campaigns, model releases, experiential, sales materials, etc.
- Translate creative concepts into provocative design and executions that feel fresh, smart, and scalable.
- Collaborate with and often lead contractors and external vendors.
- Become a partner to applied research and product development to make future Stability products work better for creatives like you.
- Stay ahead of creative technology trends, testing new AI tools, and integrating them into daily workflows.
- Work within design systems, create new ones, and evolve the brand.
- Be a maker. We are a small team. You’ll need to make your own assets, often taking the role of a content creator.
What you’ll need:
- 5+ years of experience working in a related position at an agency, in-house, or production studio.
- Excellent craft and taste as a visual designer.
- Experience creating impactful strategic advertising campaigns.
- A website portfolio featuring your best projects.
- Proficient in all creative tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Figma.
- Deep curiosity for AI tools and workflows — with hands-on experience using platforms and models like Dream Studio, Midjourney, Runway, Nano Banana Pro, Z Image, Seed Dream 4.0, Kling, Veo 3, Wan, etc.
- Comfort working across formats: static, motion, digital, presentation design, collateral, experimental.
- Ability to think strategically, execute independently, and thrive in ambiguity.
Nice to have:
- Experience working at a startup.
- Experience using node-based AI workflow platforms such as Comfy UI.
- The knowledge and ability to run AI models locally.
- Ad agency experience.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is between $126,000 and $170,000 USD. Individual pay within the range is based on factors like job-related skills and experience. Total compensation also includes stock options and benefits.
