About us

The Refurbishment & Optimisation Operations team plays a critical role in leading refurbishment, strengthening synergies with repair, and driving operational excellence by enhancing the efficiency and sustainability. We are responsible for extending the lifecycle of our products through strategic refurbishment, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing processes and overall operational performance.

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Circularity Engineer who’s passionate about transforming how materials are sourced, used, recovered, and returned to production. You’ll be a hands-on to drive of our circular economy, defining and delivering projects which enable material recovery and recycling across our global manufacturing, refurbishment, and customer return streams.

You’ll drive strategy, alignment and global circularity programs. Working closely with global engineering, outsourced and BOM procurement teams, you will drive and align stakeholders in the prioritization and delivery of circularity which make our products more sustainable, from start to finish.

You will be required to build strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging on the rapidly changing and evolving developments of circularity initiatives. You will be expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of current and future requirements and implement solutions embedding circularity into global operations and products.

You will be working closely with global internal and external partners across the global supply chain, engineering and operations, driving the path of continuous improvement and transformation.

Reporting directly to the Global Director of Refurbishment Operations, you will be required to work autonomously and in collaboration within a multiple stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive strategy and circularity initiatives to recover and reintroduce materials from Dyson products, both Post-Industrial and Post-Consumer, back into manufacturing.

  • Define and implement systems identifying opportunity and potential leveraging on existing and new partners enhancing and driving the recovery and reuse of materials.

  • Pilot and scale circularity projects across refurbishment operations, supply chain partners, and internal production sites.

  • Lead technical assessments of materials and manufacturing processes to improve recovery efficiency and enable the use of recycled content.

  • Collaborate with internal teams—including RDD (Research, Design & Development), Procurement, and Compliance—to embed circularity principles into new product design and sourcing.

  • Engage and coordinate with external partners (such as recyclers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies) to align on best practices and ensure legislative compliance for recycled materials use.

  • Monitor and report progress on circularity initiatives, sharing insights and data to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Support training and knowledge-sharing across teams, helping others understand and adopt circular practices.

About you
  • Engineering background—degree in materials science, chemical, or mechanical engineering, with a proven focus on sustainability and circularity.

  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, material formulation, and recovery methods, especially for plastics, polymers, and metals.

  • Hands-on experience with recycling or closed-loop material programs in a manufacturing or refurbishment context.

  • Familiarity with process design, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and supply chain strategy.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to translate complex data into practical solutions.

  • Strong communicator and influencer—able to work with technical and non-technical colleagues, present to senior management, and lead projects without direct authority.

  • Self-driven, proactive, and organised—comfortable managing multiple projects with partners around the world from a campus base.

  • Commitment to compliance—stays on top of legislation and industry standards for sustainable materials and processes.

  • Experienced in managing Senior Stakeholders

  • Sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results.

  • English - Excellent Spoken and written skills
