Lead Data Scientist – Document AI

Description/Fundamental Components:

  • Act as the data science captain for AI data intake and recommendations, providing hands-on technical leadership, and leading by example through your own work
  • Implement and monitor AI document extraction solutions, including frameworks for confidence scoring, data completeness, accuracy thresholds, and exception handling
  • Design plan recommendation solutions by leveraging structured and unstructured data
  • Partner with product, engineering, and AI research teams to guide feature design and evaluation strategies
  • Establish standards for data lineage, traceability, and explainability to support user trust and regulatory needs
  • Act as the primary data science point of accountability for the domain
  • Promote a continuous learning environment including experimentation with the latest AI assisted coding and collaboration tools

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant data science and analytics experience
  • 5+ Experience programming using Python
  • 5+ Experience programming using SQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling and advanced in-depth specialization in some areas
  • Strong skills to effectively communicate and negotiate across business and in the external health care environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
  • Deep knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources
  • Solid understanding of health care industry, products, and systems
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.

Master’s degree or PhD preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$142,140.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
