Role Overview

Aetna, a CVS Health company, is a leading health innovation organization focused on transforming healthcare delivery and improving outcomes. As part of the growing Medicare Stars organization, we are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics, forecasting, and scientific modeling efforts that drive enterprise-level Star Ratings performance.

This role is an individual contributor and thought leader responsible for defining and scaling the next generation of Stars forecasting, cutpoint analytics, and performance modeling. The individual will lead development of predictive models, statistical frameworks, and AI-enabled analytics solutions to inform strategic decision-making across Medicare Stars domains.

Position Summary

  • Designs, develops, and maintains complex Tableau reports for scalability, manageability, extensibility, performance, and re-use.
  • Interacts directly with key high-level stakeholders, end-users, and colleagues to design and develop Dashboards in Tableau.
  • Works with other teams to create useful reports and dashboards that provide insight, improve/automate processes, or otherwise add value to team.
  • Strong experience of data extracts, data blending, publishing dashboards.
  • Apply advanced technical, analytical and consultative skills utilizing an extensive knowledge of healthcare data, Tableau and information systems to develop and deliver reporting components that satisfy business needs within defined SLAs.
  • Expertise in working with BigQuery and Cloud SQL services offered by GCP eco system.
  • Experience in GCP Looker to create and maintain enterprise dashboards and derive insights.
  • Extensive knowledge of data visualization techniques and visual design concepts using Tableau
  • Lead, design and develop user friendly dashboards using complex health care datasets from different Medicare data sources.
  • Creates high performance Tableau reports that address strategic and tactical business needs.
  • Proficient in Python, Jupyter Notebooks, GitHub version controls, and SQL
  • Experience in Data Processing, expertise in developing Queries.
  • Good Knowledge in various phases of SDLC, Requirement Analysis, Design, Development and Testing on various developments and enhancement projects.
  • Implements best practices to ensure dashboard design consistency across all dashboards for best user experience.
  • Very good understanding of relational data structures and skilled in writing complex data analysis queries.
  • Provides technical expertise in areas of development, design, and implementation.
  • Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through clear, understandable presentations.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity in dashboards and reports.

Education

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in these fields are highly desirable.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years in data science, analytics, or forecasting roles
  • Significant experience in Medicare Stars or healthcare quality analytics
  • Experience leading large-scale forecasting or Stars performance programs
  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale analytics solutions and business impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Professional certifications in data science, machine learning, or business analytics can be beneficial.
  • Experience with CMS Stars regulatory interpretation and analytics
  • Prior work in Medicare Advantage or healthcare quality organizations

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
