About the Team:

The Powder Bed Fusion manufacturing team develops, creates, and operates the most advanced additive manufacturing technologies in the world. This best-in-class team makes sure that the infrastructure, materials, tools, and equipment are in place for us to rapidly iterate and print. The Powder-Based manufacturing team was crucial to manufacturing Aeon-1 for first launch and now are developing and demonstrating groundbreaking technologies, design, and approaches for Aeon-R.

About the Role:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers who own a fleet of machines, process improvements, and delivery of propulsion-critical AM hardware
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and operation of additive post processing manufacturing equipment
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, checklists, and safety protocols for additive manufacturing, including post processing equipment
  • Be responsible for establishing of process flow to meet production rate and quality goals
  • Communicate roadblocks to team leaders, direct reports, and technicians promptly to appropriately react, contain, and recover
  • Track machine utilization and drive reductions in planned and unplanned downtime
  • Perform manufacturing ROI and cost trade analysis optimizing machine capital and process improvements
  • Develop and implement tooling and statistical process control into production processes to further improve reliability and reduce cost and lead time

About You:

  • BS Degree in Engineering (or relevant technical discipline)
  • 5+ years of experience with Powder Bed Fusion/Additive Manufacturing engineering experience with 1+ years of technical leadership or project ownership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with powder bed fusion (LPBF) in a production environment
  • Experience owning or mentoring engineers
  • Strong track record of delivering results across ambiguous and high-scope technical areas
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable navigating between shop floor execution and cross-functional strategic planning

Nice to haves, but not required:  

  • Familiarity with MES/QMS systems and process flow management
  • Experience defining or scaling additive workflows from R&D to production
  • Applied experience with root cause investigations and corrective action systems
  • Background working in ISO, AS9100, or other high-reliability environments

Hiring Range:
$128,000$176,000 USD
