We are looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to provide technical leadership for our cloud platform, infrastructure, and developer enablement initiatives. This role is responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and resilient platform solutions while mentoring engineers and driving automation across the Engineering organization.
As a technical leader on a small, highly skilled Platform Engineering team, you will help define our platform strategy, establish engineering standards, and lead initiatives from concept through production. You’ll build self-service tooling, improve deployment automation, strengthen our cloud infrastructure, and enable engineering teams to deliver software safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership, taking ownership of complex engineering challenges while balancing scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for our cloud platform and infrastructure.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of our CI/CD platform and deployment automation.
- Develop self-service tooling that enables engineers to provision, deploy, and operate services independently.
- Improve platform reliability, disaster recovery readiness, observability, and cloud cost efficiency.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and reusable platform patterns.
- Mentor engineers through architecture reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and collaborative problem solving.
- Lead complex technical initiatives from research and planning through production deployment.
- Partner closely with Software Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term platform improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of technical leadership experience
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Possess deep expertise designing and operating cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes and containerized microservices in production environments
- Strong experience designing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Has built and maintained enterprise CI/CD platforms and deployment pipelines.
- Understanding of networking, security, IAM, secret management, and cloud architecture principles.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Able to write clean, maintainable, well-tested automation and infrastructure code.
- Uses metrics and operational data to drive engineering decisions and prioritize work.
- Takes ownership of both your work and the long-term health of the platform.
- Cloud & Infrastructure experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE),Cloud Run, Terraform, Helm, VPC Networking, Cloud SQL and Atlas
- Platform & Automation experience with tools like, Harness, Cloud Build, Docker, Vault and Github
- Experience with observability tools like, Google Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver) and New Relic
- Experience with Disaster recovery and high availability, Performance optimization, Infrastructure security and secure software delivery, and/or Cost optimization in cloud environments is highly desirable
For Colorado, Nevada, New York, and Washington DC-based employment: In accordance with the Pay Transparency laws the pay range for this position is $175,000 - $190,000. The compensation package may include stock options, plus a range of medical, dental, vision, financial, generous PTO, stipends for professional development, and wellness benefits. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. The range listed only applies to Colorado, Nevada, New York, and Washington DC.
