Lead the design of Spark's Bitcoin payment tools, create prototypes and demos, develop marketing assets, and collaborate across teams while utilizing AI tools for efficiency.
The summary above was generated by AI

Lightspark is building the open payment protocol for the Internet making money move like data: instantly, globally, and without friction. With enterprise tools like Grid, Node, and Spark, businesses can send and receive money instantly, securely, and at a fraction of the cost, anytime, anywhere. Lightspark is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, but serves the world.

We're building infrastructure that makes Bitcoin and stablecoins as easy to use as the internet. We're backed by a16z crypto, Paradigm, Ribbit Capital, Coatue, and Thrive Capital. Our products power wallets, instant deposits, buy/sell, and global money movement for companies like Tether, Deblock, Breez, Xverse, and Privy.

About Spark

Spark is a Bitcoin L2 that lets you move Bitcoin and stablecoins instantly, at near-zero cost, without bridges or wrappers. It's open source, natively interoperable with Lightning, and already live in production. Wallet SDKs, token issuance, zero-conf deposits. Spark is how the next generation of money apps gets built. About the team

The design team at Lightspark is four people. We use AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Figma) daily to move from idea to working software fast. We build interactive prototypes as real code, design marketing assets that explain complex infrastructure simply, and collaborate directly with engineering. The team is tight-knit, opinionated about craft, and moves quickly.

What you'll do

This role is primarily focused on Spark. You'll be the designer shaping how the world experiences a new Bitcoin payment layer, through product, demos, and everything in between.

Build the product. Own the design of Spark's developer-facing tools, dashboards, and wallet experiences. Make the complexity of L2 infrastructure, stablecoin settlement, and multi-chain interoperability feel simple and trustworthy.

Ship prototypes and demos. Build functional, high-fidelity prototypes that show partners and prospects what Spark can do, not mockups, but working software you can tap through and share. Think interactive demos, proof-of-concept integrations, scenario walkthroughs.

Create marketing and launch assets. Design and build pages, visuals, and materials that communicate Spark's capabilities to developers, enterprises, and the broader crypto ecosystem. You'll help tell the story of what's possible.

Work across Lightspark. While Spark is your primary focus, you'll contribute to the broader Lightspark product and brand alongside three other designers. Small team means you'll have range.

Use AI to move faster. AI isn't a bullet point here, it's how the team works. You'll use tools like Cursor and Claude to prototype, iterate on UI, and compress the distance between idea and shipped product.

Who you are

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality digital products at a product-driven company

  • Strong visual and interaction design skills, you care about craft and it shows in your portfolio

  • Fluent with AI-assisted design and development workflows. You already use tools like Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar to accelerate your work.

  • Experience designing for technical audiences: developers, platform teams, or infrastructure products

  • Self-directed. You can take a loosely defined problem, figure out what needs to exist, and build fast.

Preferred

  • Experience with crypto, payments, fintech, or developer tools

  • Familiarity with Bitcoin, Lightning, stablecoins, or L2 networks — or the curiosity to learn fast

  • Comfortable working in or around code (HTML/CSS/JS). Not a requirement — AI handles a lot of the heavy lifting — but it helps.

  • A portfolio that includes prototypes, demos, or interactive experiences — not just static screens

  • Experience on a small design team where you wore multiple hats (product, brand, marketing, prototyping)

  • An eye for motion, interaction, and the small details that make software feel considered

Lightspark is on a mission to build an open payment protocol for the Internet at scale and therefore we’re committed to creating a more inclusive and diverse workplace to reflect the customers we serve. We welcome interest from individuals of all backgrounds and levels of experience who share our mission. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.

We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the State of California Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
