Company Description

NYC Office - Hybrid - in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Expert Institute is entering one of the most exciting chapters in our 14-year history. After building the category-leading expert consulting business through a high-touch service model, we’re now making major investments in Product strategy, modern technology, and world-class talent to transform our platform into a truly product-led, self-service marketplace.

Design is at the heart of this next decade—and we’re looking for a Lead Product Designer who’s ready to help write that story.

This role is a unique blend of craft leadership, strategic influence, and hands-on design excellence. You’ll partner closely with our growing Product and Engineering teams, set the design vision for our platform, elevate our design standards, and directly shape the experiences thousands of attorneys rely on every day.

If you’re looking for the excitement of a high-growth startup—but want the stability of a profitable, scaled business with strong leadership and real resources behind it—you’ll love it here.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Own and simplify complex workflows end-to-end, bringing clarity and elegance to high-impact user journeys.

  • Redesign activation, onboarding, and search experiences to unlock self-service behaviors and move core PLG metrics.

  • Turn big-picture strategy into compelling visual direction, from north-star concepts to roadmap storytelling.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and senior leadership to ensure design plays a central role in company-wide strategy.

  • Build and maintain a modern design system that drives coherence, consistency, and velocity.

  • Mentor and guide our current designer while helping shape how we hire, grow, and scale the design function.

Qualifications

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Bring at least 7 to 12+ years of designing B2B or marketplace products with measurable, user-centered impact.

  • Have a portfolio that demonstrates strong UX fundamentals, crisp interaction design, and clear product outcomes.

  • Love being a player-coach who is able to deliver exceptional work while helping others level up.

  • Think in systems, move quickly, and always be biased toward shipping, learning, and iterating.

  • You are energized by clarity, simplicity, and building purposeful products that people count on every day.

  • Obsess over understanding real customer needs and solving them brilliantly.

  • Are most comfortable showing civility towards colleagues (please and thank you)
